IR Problem???

Post by DGG »

After about a six-month hiatus, I attempted to make some mods this morning using the Special Protocol Builder in IR.

Using SPB, there appears to be no way to enter a new command (except as a new last command) into, nor to delete a command from, for example, a DSM - other than by direct manipulation of the hex string in the next higher level window. (Modification of the hex string in the SPB window is of no effect.)

I don't recall whether or not these issues were brought up last spring when SPB was being implemented. (They are so basic, I'd be surprised if they weren't - if they were missing then.) Was there some technical reason why these two capabilities couldn't be implemented? I do recall there were some serious dimensional problems in the early implementation of SPB whereby certain users, me among them, had difficulty displaying various aspects of the SPB "window". Perhaps Insert/Delete buttons are provided but I just can't bring them into view?

You can delete commands from the middle of a SPB built keymove but you are correct, there is no easy way to add a command in the middle. To delete, just highlight the command you want to delete and use the keyboard delete button. It will just go blank but close it and reopen it and all the other commands will move up.

What I do is just move each command down until I have the blank spot that I want. Then I add my new command there. Or you can enter the hex on the first keymove panel before going into SPB.

Thanks, Nil. Those are the workarounds I used.

I presume there is some technical reason why the insert/delete functions weren't implemented.
