I'm looking at buying the 9960 kameleon remote, already have the 1 in all 8810w, that is working fine for me, does the 9960mhave the 6 pin interface , will I gain any functionality or option other than the obvious kameleon thing???? I'm only looking at about $10-15 to trade up...
Thanks

I think you lose functionality, because you can't control which keys are lit in which mode, so key may be unavailable in modes where you want them.
The key question is what functionality are you looking to gain? Why are you considering replacing an 8810w with a 9960?
You might make a decent case that a 9960 is easier to learn to use, for baby sitters or other visitors or anyone who will be using your remote but won't use it a lot. But for anyone who knows how to use your 8810w or 9960 config well, the 8810w will be better in many ways.

The URC-9960 doesn't have the 6-pin interface, it has 6 pads, so people using store bought 9960s get a pogo-pin adapter in order to use JP1 with it. However, I have modified 9960s available where I have soldered in the 6-pin.
As for the price, the 9960 is more than just $10-15 more than the 8810w. The 8810 sells for just under $20, whereas the 9960 sells for closer to $70 (it's MSRP is about $99, I think)
As for functionality, I agree with John's post, there's nothing the 9960 can do that the 8810 can't do, it's just looks more "fancy" doing it.

Thanks guys, that's exactly what i needed to know. I'm still playing/trying to figure out the potential of the 8810w, I was looking at the kameleon strictly for the glam of it. I would solder in the pin's , pogo pins are pretty sh*&^% to use, Ebay is selling the 9960 in the $40 range, if the 8810w is able to keep up I think I'll stick with it.

The 8810 is totally able to keep up with the 9960 from a functionality POV, and many of us think it's actually a better remote. The 9960's main appeal is the glam "gee wiz" appeal, so you're much more likely to impress the babysitter with a 9960 (and you'll keep your local battery supplier happy too) but you'll find the 8810 less frustrating to use.
