Help with Macros...

Post by Greg Williams »

:? I have setup my 1994 using all the cool tools available, but I have come to a issue on the finishing touch. I want to be able to press a device key(e.g. CBL/SAT) and set my receiver input to the corresponding device (My Tivo) and stay on the selected device (CBL/SAT). I setup 3 phantom key for my receiver (AUX1) using the descrete input selection EFCs. I know that the EFCs are correct. My typical macro entry looks like this CBL/SAT=AUX1,Phantom3,CBL/SAT. This does not appear to work at all!

1) Is this even valid?
2) I do want the device key to select the funtion for it's intended device in the end.
3) It may be that I need to migrate to using an extender. I would like to refrain from that if possible since I am so close. I have looked at the documentation on the extender v5 and the CodeCalc worksheet and I am confused as to how to start. I have downloaded user configurations with extenders and I am still at a loss...

Any help would be appreciated...

P.S. Rob, If you see this, I am back setting up my 1994 for a second time since I have had an eguipment change. It has been I guess 2+ years. I built (I think) the #3 or #4 JP1 interface. You helped me with my initial Sony TiVo configuration. This stuff has come a LONG way. Excellent job to you and all who have invested time and energy in making JP1 what it is today!!!

Greg,

It will take an extender in the 1994 to assign a Macro to the device key. You can assign a macro to a shifted device key, so you might try that first. Your macro should work with shift-CBL/SAT

Hi Greg, when I saw the name i wondered if it was the same person, I do remember you finding the three device codes used by the Sony Tivo.

As for your problem, like Jon said, it will take an extender to do it, so the conversation on that part should continue in your thread in the Extenders folder.
