IR USB Drivers

In preparation for getting started I've downloaded all the required software, got my remote, and am just waiting on my USB cable.

I decided to run each piece of software to become familiar with it and ensure there are no compatibility issues. When I run IR.exe and go the interface tab I notice that the USB interface is greyed out and when I check driver status I get an error stating it cannot find the Delcom driver.

I get this same error on all versions from 5.07 - 5.10. I have downloaded the drivers and installed them but still get the error. Do I need to have the cable attached to the computer before the driver status recognizes the USB? Or, am I miising something?

Any help would be appreciated.

The cable needs to be plugged in for IR to recognize the USB interface. Looks like you will have to wait until your cable comes in...

I'm getting the same error when trying to load the delcom USB I/O drivers. (Running XP Pro SP1) Please post if you figure out how to load the delcom drivers.

I think the device is OK.. XP is recognizing it as a USB device.

Make sure you have the USB cable plugged in
Go to the Start Menu
Select Control Panels
Select Add New Hardware
Click on the "Next" tab
Select "Add/Troubleshoot a device" and click next
After the hardware device is done searching, select "Add New Device" and click next
Selct "No, I want to select the hardware from a list" and click next
You should see something for USB devices select it and click next (if not select other devices)
Select "Have Disk" and navigat to the Delcom Driver
Follow the rest of the prompts to install the driver.

You may have to restart but it should work fine

Thanks for the suggestion. However, this does not seem to work either. When I try adding the driver in this manner, I get a dialog with "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware".

I'm still not sure if this is a hardware or a software problem. When I connect the device, the "New Hardware" balloon displays "USB IO Controller", so, I'm tending to believe this is a software problem.

When I plugged the new cable in and restarted I got the New hardware found and it went throught the process of trying to find the drivers but couldn't because the drivers signature is not recognized by Microsoft. I had to use the advanced menu and physicall navigate to the driver to select it. I did get an error saying that the signature wasn't recognized but accepted anyway. Once I did this, I didn't have any problems.

There are a few places you can download the drivers from and a lot of times files can become corrupt durring the download process. It's a good idea to temporarily turn off virus protection and spam/spyware killer software when you download and install (assuming your comfortable with where your downloading it from).

Many more good ideas. However, I have tried everything mentioned. I downloaded the drivers directly from delcom-eng.com. Turned off AV. (Don't have any antispam software running) And went thru both "advanced" installation procedures. I even tried right-clicking "install" on the .inf file. The drivers just do not want to install. I keep getting a dialog "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware". Very bizarre. (And slightly upsetting)

Windows looks for the .inf file, not the driver. Unzip the delcom zip file, which has the .inf and .sys file, to a folder. Then point the hardware install wizard to the folder that has the driver and .inf file. Windows should find the driver and copy it to the windows\system32\drivers folder.

Yes. Did that as well. I've installed many drivers before. This is the first one that I'm having such problems with.
