URC-8060 Extender 1
Moderator: Moderators
Hi Nils,
yesterday I could do a test with both variants:
1. Doubling discrete code for screen up on short keypress
This worked without any problem.
2. Testing with light on/off
Here I had the same problem.
It seems to me that the command issued with the long keypress multiple times blocks the IR receiver in some way so that the next command is ignored.
So there seems to be no error in the extender and I have a workaround.
Thanks,
Emil

Nils,
I do not have JP1, so I usually convert my IR file to WAV and download it to OFA 8060.
While tried to use 8060 Extender 1 it is converted to WAV with header of KAM1. When dowloading WAV file to 8060, remote back to lights after some seconds with download failed.
When I use KAKEKAM0 (no extender version) it works fine.
Where can be the problem? I really wnat to use extender cause it gives mу some protocols (TOADTOG, LKP) which I can not find just as special protocols upgrade.

For WAV transfer you need the remote's standard signature. JP1 transfer allows alternate signatures. We intentionally made the extender signature different from the standard in order to help IR.EXE in selecting the right RDF file.
By changing both the RDF file and the hex image, you should be able to change the extender to use the standard signature, so it could be loaded by WAV file. (Of course IR will no longer be able to select extender vs. non extender RDF by signature, so you'll need to tell it which RDF to use, or hide the one it shouldn't use).
Also, I hope you know that to load the extender you need to load the entire eeprom image, not just the region used by upgrades.

It can be a reasonable compromise for me. The only point for me is I have no any clue how to change EXT RDF and hex image onto standard KAME signature.johnsfine wrote: By changing both the RDF file and the hex image, you should be able to change the extender to use the standard signature, so it could be loaded by WAV file
Any ideas?

Have you considered either buying or making a JP1 cable for yourself, it would make the process alot simpler.

More active buttons?
I have been playing with the Kameleon extender, which is great
, but I
am struggling a bit because of the number of 'real' buttons that are available
In particular, I am thinking of the Red,Green,Yellow and Blue Buttons
These buttons are only available in TV mode, as far as I can see
Is there any way that these four buttons could be used in VCR mode,
in addition to those already available?

Re: More active buttons?
The best way to do this is to simply change the device type and set the default screen, most of the devices on my 8060 are set to either the DVD or the SAT PVR screen. The only disadvantage (not much using IR) is that you may have to define a new device of the type you want. For example I defined a new 'DVD' device to drive my Panasonic VCR as it makes quite heavy use of both the cursor and transport keys which are on different VCR screens. No big job, it will only take you a couple of minutes.Mog wrote:I have been playing with the Kameleon extender, which is great, but I

Nils,
I've been using the extender for quite a while now and there are the occasional glitch that occurs. I've not been able to tie them down to anything specific but just in case you can think of anything heres a description :
1) Occasionally if I switch to the DVD device (which is a Panasonic DMR-HS2 DVD recorder with hard drive), then select the menu and start scrolling through the list of recorded tracks, the 8060 will suddenly switch to the VCR device. Its not a big problem but causes a little confusion.
2) Sometimes I lose the TV volume and mute functionality, it just stops working until the remote is reset. I never use the V_ device command to set the function of the volume and mute keys, so my guess is that some thing is causing this to be reset and then it never gets assigned back to control the AV Amp. I could get round this I guess by including a V_TV in all the device select macros.
3) Similarly to the above, occasionally the Sky+ (on the SAT device) loses the record button functionality, the remote goes through the animation but no signal is sent. The only difference the record key has in the setup is that it does not use a ToadTog to detect if it is controling a Sky or Sky+ device, all the other keys are ether defined by the device or test which is the active device, Sky or Sky+.
Hope all is well with you, its a while since I've posted here,

Nils,Nils_Ekberg wrote:Yes, I added the capability to disable the motion detector in IR. Many people have been clipping the wires to disable it and I finally figured out how to do it in the extender.
Just another random-ish thought, would it be possible to have a different time out for motion activation than key press activation?
It would be quite nice to be able to define a short time for motion activation, just a second or two, but a longer time for key press activation, 10-15 seconds.
