Codes for KV-13TR24 Sony TV

Post by newRemoter »

I just bought a URC-6011 and I'm trying to program it for use with my KV-13TR24. I need to know how to program it so I can autoprogram the channels. I need to program a menu button. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a sony KV-13TR24. I don't have a remote for it. I bought the URC-6011. It will do all functions except for menu. Is there anyway I can program the macro button to access the menu for my TV? I need to run channel autoprogram. Must I find the remote that originally came with the TV?

Thanks

You say that the remote "will do all functions except for MENU", this tends to imply that you have found a setup code that works, yet in two posts you've yet to mention what that setup code is. Your original post didn't even mention what brand your TV is, though thankfully you fixed that with your second post.

Once you do mention it, one of us will go to the advanced code section and find the code for menu for you:

Bottom line, if you're wondering why nobody's jumped in to help you so far, it's because you've supplied so little info that most people know that it's likely going to take alot of "back and fro" to get the info from you, that they probably just skip past this thread.

Are you using TV/0000 to control the Sony? If so, the EFC for MENU is 002, and that should already be mapped to the Menu button on the 6011. What happens when you press Menu (assuming you're using TV/0000)?

I'm new here , so I don't know if I'm out of order , but if you (newRemoter) don't have the original remote then you wouldn't know the labels used on this older Sony Tv. It uses the standard Sony code (0000). It also uses a different menu style than the newer sets (not actually a "menu" system). You will have to read up on using EFC codes for the functions you need. The menu "up" and "down" arrows will work normally but you can't change their function without entering a "select" command. You may also want to know the catv/antenna switch command. The advanced code pages will show you all of the codes available to you but here are some of the main ones you need.
select -- EFC 195 I think this is the "menu" you're looking for.
reset -- EFC 081 sets color ,etc to defaults.
auto program -- EFC 124
catv/antenna -- EFC 161
add -- EFC 194
erase -- EFC 190
picture up -- EFC 210
picture down -- EFC 206

You will have to punch in the "select" EFC command very quickly or assign it to a unused button to make it work. You should explore this site carefully since most questions have answers already . I've spent the last two weeks doing that and I still haven't read everything.

I type slow and just looked Menu 002 will not work on this model . See above.

A shame about Douglas Adams . Slartibartfast was too long , someone had Beeblebrox so I picked Zaphod and added the address of my shop when someone else had Zaphod on a forum.

Thank you very much... these are defintely the codes that I am looking for. Do you think you could point me in the right direction for learning how to use these EFC codes with my URC-6011?

Thanks a lot

This will get you started. http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/advanced.shtml There are layers upon layers in this forum so you might want to start at the home page http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/ and start clicking.

edit: Darn , I type too slow but check the home page and links out anyway.

I was able to program all of those codes and they all work... however, for some reason I can't get a channel after 47 no matter what... its all snow... i should have up to channel 74... and other sony tvs can display them... i thought the catv/attenna function would do it but it doesnt... any suggestions?

Are you on cable or an antenna? Have you tried entering a channel directly (ie ; 5-5-enter) to see what happens ? This set had a tuner that had some quality control problems and one of the failure modes was loss of bands of stations. One of these groups starts at about CATV 47.

Following up on Zaphod's question, does your TV have a setup menu of some sort? If so, see if there is a CABLE/ANTENNA setting, and make sure that it matches what you are really using.

Your symptoms tend to imply that you have the incorrect setting for this option.
