Need advanced code DVD <-> SVHS for combo JVC HR-XVS30

Post by HobbyMan »

For my OFA 8060 I use code 0067 for VHS and 0623 (aka 0558) for DVD, which partly works for DVD side.

I wonder if someone has an advanced or learned code (discrete or toggle) who allows to switch from VHS panel to DVD and vice versa.

I do not have JP-1 cable, so can not provide any learned signals to diagnosis area.

Judging by the number of posts (and device hits on +JVC +VCR +DVD ) I'm guessing one of us is going to have to start from scratch on this one. I hve not learned much else from the JVC yet. I Had settled for living with two remotes for years, since my RS 15-1994 ran out of learning memory before we baught a DVD. I wiped out a few lesser used keys from my Sony CamCorder device to learn some.
After wasting way too much time this week manually keying advanced codes and keymoves, tonight I finished making the cable today from Spare parts in the basement and 50¢ worth of resisters (just to save time digging) from Radio Shack)

After reading the learned codes, The following work as advanced codes for my HR-JVC1U VHS/DVD/CD (Device 0067):

110 - Switch to DVD Mode.
171 - Switch to VCR Mode.
(Forgive me for not using the word discrete, but these are the most obvious buttons on the top of the original remote, not at all discrete even though they are absolute, in the autonomous sense.)

A few more just learned tonight:
154 - Setup Menu (menu)
194 - DVD Eject/Insert
167 - Set - / Menu Left
169 - Set + / Menu Right

065 - Autotracking
126 - Skip Search (VHS half minute ffwd)
120 - Skip Index (Prev track)
116 - Skip Index (Next track)

The following are not tested - I just realized it's way past time for my nightly nap and I have to work overtime tomorro - er - tonight.

001 - DVD Zoom
025 - DVD Angle
062 - DVD Menu (Guide)

I'll try to do more on this before April runs out, time permitting, . . . Kinda goes in spurts here.

- Hope this helps -

ps. Don't think of it as spending $10 to $40 on a parallel or USB cable "to modify a $19 remote", think of it as $19 + $40 to save on a $159 to $300 super remote, AND save you time over what it would take to program the $159 model. You can afford to eat in one or two extra times next month.
