RS 15-2138 Possible extender

Post by Nils_Ekberg »

:?: Before I go and rent a 15-2138 from Radio Shack is there any interest in an extender for this remote.

I actually have one written already just not sure if and how well it would work if anyone is interested in trying it.

There seems to be no interest in this remote at this time so I will put working on an extender for it on the back burner and work on other things.

That's probably because the remote has only just come out and only a few stores have it in stock. I did a web search any only 1 RS store (out of about a dozen) in my area had it.

Once people start buying it there will be more of a need for an extender.

Yup, I agree.

Two things happened (or didn't happen)

1) No responses here.
2) I could not find one to try it on for the same reason you indicated, no one has them in my area.

I will not throw anything away since I think the extender may actually work "out of the box".

Do you think I should just package it and post it as a "BETA" or "ALPHA" and see if anyone tries it?

You could do.

As for getting your hands on one yourself, when the 15-2133 was first issued none of my local stores had one either, so I ordered one online and then returned it to a local store when I was done creating the RDF. They refunded the shipping charge along with the cost of the remote, which was a surprise to me, I expected to be out the shipping cost.

Another option is to have a local store order it for you, which they'll be more than happy to do.

Radio Shack 15-2138 Kameleon Extender

Post by tlon »

Hi Nils - I own a Radio Shack 15-2138 8-in-1 Kameleon, and am interested in the extender you developed. More specifically, I have a Sony VPQ-1272 projector which only supports discrete on/off codes, and a need a 'reverse toadtog' or the ability to program a macro on the power button to turn this bugger on and off.

Can you help me out? Also, does anyone have a device upgrade that includes the Sony VPH-1272Q projector? I can't seem to find any support for it anywhere. It uses a Sony RM-1271 remote

You have a test version of the extender in your e-mail to try out. Let me know how you make out with it. My guess is it will need some tweaking.

I would repost this question on the Sony device code in the "Code Search" forum as it will get lost here.
