How to get started with JP1 ?

I was hoping someone could throw me a bone ! i have purchased a urc-9660 and have been using it for a few weeks and now discovered its many limitations in its current configuration, i have read the" GETTING STARTED " but still dont get how to get it working and was hoping some would be kind enough to show me step by step to do it right as i am very keen to tap into the potential of the remote. I am in Australia and not been able to find the adaptors required to make the jp1 cable but johnsfine via message posted on remote central tells me that the software has been upgraded to do wav files, this would great!
so if anyone got the time to help me i would be very grateful.

and the question is how to make a .wav file for a Teac DVD. And that DVD MIGHT match the setup code DVD/0692 with extra functions available in the CCF at

You probably should get the RemoteMaster Java program, and the newest IR.EXE program, and IRtoWav. RemoteMaster can be used to create the "upgrade". IR is used to insert the upgrade into an EEPROM image and IRtoWav is used to extract/encode the upgrade as a .wav file. (The recent software improvement is that IR.EXE can invoke IRtoWav for you, so you don't need to compute the command IRtoWav needs).

I probably can help more later (make a starter upgrade merging DVD/0692 with the functions from that CCF, unless one of the other experts want to get to thast sooner) so all you need to do in RM (RemoteMaster) would be decide which functions you want on which buttons.

IIRC, if you look through the files in the JP1 Yahoo group there are many innovations for alternative connectors to use for a JP1 cable. I think you will have a much better experience with the cable.

I made a starter RDMU file here
Teac.rdmu

that has data merged from the three sources I mentioned.
I can't test any of it and many of the function names are guesses, so I didn't assign any functions to buttons.

To use it you must open it in RM, change the remote model, and assign functions to buttons, then tranfer RM output to the device/add dialog in IR.

If you test it and find my guess at function names was wrong, please tell me the correct names.
