Hi,
Any idea what is the market value of these remotes? I pretty much replaced them with 2116/2117.
I think I have 3 of them I can get rid of. I checked ebay, but didn't see any of them for sale.
Seeing that a new 2116 is $30, I can part with the 1994 for $15 plus shipping? Is that reasonable? _________________ still learning......... |

You could probably ask $50 for the 15-1994. _________________ Rob

Yes. I recently paid over $40 for a 1994 on eBay after repeatedly being outbid at $30. |

I have since moved on to other remotes but those 1994's are workhorses (and for me the basic JP1 tool). I frequently still use the learning function of 1994 to help me set up any new devices I aquire. _________________ don't let the "Status" fool ya. I've been here forever. |

You guys may be paying $30-$50 for 1994's (and I, for one would too, if I needed a fourth one!), but the market appears to be saying otherwise. The last three eBay completed auctions for 1994's range from $16.26 to $18.50 selling price, which plus shipping is about $25.00 - a bargain in ANYONE's book! |

The trick when buying on ebay is to look for poorly listed items, that's how you find bargains. As a seller, the trick is to list your item so that it will get picked up by as many searches as possible. Both of the previous listings of 15-1994s didn't include the words "universal remote" in the subject line, which almost by itself guarantees that the price won't go too high. _________________ Rob

The last time I bought a 1994 was from the Shack and I believe the asking price was $4.95. And yes, I grabbed up their entire remaining inventory
The irony that keeps shinning in my face is that I bought my first "universal" remote in an effort to divest myself of multiple remotes: The result is that I now have enough remotes to create my own Remote Museum. I know the Robman know of what I speak.... |

God God Rob,
I am impressed! My entire collection would scarcely be an out-of-the-way wing in your museum.
I will say however, that I've handled most of the remotes you show and for my money the general layout/ergonomics and general hands on feel of the 1994/1995/2117 style remote has yet to be topped. The fact that my significant other says that remote feels like a giant phallus with buttons--notwithstanding |
