Issue with Device Upgrades using the same protocol

Post by Jono »

Hello! It’s been a while since I was last here. So firstly, I’d like to say that the software is even better than I remembered and the support that I and others have been given in the forums is absolutely phenomenal. Thanks to all involved!

I had a strange issue when setting up my URC-6440 (extension installed). When I selected PVR as the device, it didn’t control my PVR but did send some signals to my TV. It took me quite a while to figure out (especially as I thought it was something to do with the Activities/Combo button), so I thought it best to post in case anyone else encounters it. I was using RMIR version 3.2.15.

Here’s what I did: I reset my URC-6440 and then tried to upload a couple of Device Upgrades I created (one for a Toshiba TV, the second for a Humax FOXSAT HRD). Both upgrades use the NEC1 protocol but have different device codes (64, 191 for the TV and 0, 16 for the Humax). On the Devices tab, I create a new device and then open an existing Device Upgrade file (in this case for the TV), click OK the Device Upgrade editor and I am prompted for which button to assign the device to (I selected TV). I then repeat for the HUMAX and selected PVR. However, when I view the Device Code, both have 64, 191 (i.e. the TV). If I try the PVR first then the Device Codes are both 0, 16. Did I do something incorrectly, or is this a bug?

It doesn’t happen on URC-3661(which I created the Device Upgrades with) but I’ve also randomly tried URC-6820 and URC-7980 in RMIR and they show the same issue.

The workaround is to simply edit the Device Codes back to the correct ones, once the Device Upgrades have been added.
