Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680
I can't imagine that there's much of a market for counterfeiting OFA remotes, so I have to imagine that these are overstocks that got shipped to China, and now they're shipping them back to us, just like what happened with the Nevo remotes that you could get on eBay for $20 until the source ran dry.

That's great to know. The Robman wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 6:45 pm I can't imagine that there's much of a market for counterfeiting OFA remotes, so I have to imagine that these are overstocks that got shipped to China, and now they're shipping them back to us, just like what happened with the Nevo remotes that you could get on eBay for $20 until the source ran dry.
Does anyone know if there's a quick and dirty way to convert a *.rmir file between the various specific remotes in the 3680 family? For example to change a 3661 file to a NS-RMT8D21 file? Just like there is between URC6440 and OARUSB04G.

If the remotes have the same signature, you should be able to load the rmir file from one into the other, but if the sigs are different, I'd build the new one from scratch, if it were me.

I might do that, then compare them directly, and see what the difference is and whether it might be useful — I can post it if it is.The Robman wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 6:58 pm If the remotes have the same signature, you should be able to load the rmir file from one into the other, but if the sigs are different, I'd build the new one from scratch, if it were me.

If you load a URC3661 rmdu file into the rmdu app, and convert it to a NS-RMT8D21 file, you have to reallocate some keys purely due to the different labelling in the RDF file. Whereas all you have to do is edit the rmdu file directly using a text editor, and change lines 2 and 3 fromdavecs wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:23 am

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680
Oh, dear! The remote I ordered arrived today but it was not an NS-RMT8D21, it was an NS-RMT5D21. The good news is that I downloaded it into RMIR and the JP1 interface and it's correctly recognised as such. I've messaged the trader to try to get the correct one. I have a URC3661 with 6 device buttons, so why would I want to get one with fewer buttons?

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680
I got no paperwork with mine at all. However after I put batteries in it to download the "starter" remote, its starting setup worked my new Samsung TV! I don't really want one with fewer device buttons than I already have on the URC3661. Especially as my "AUDIO" equipment is also an FM/DAB radio, so I need more than Volume Up/Down when operating it.HamburgerHelper1 wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 2:10 pm I too received the NS-RMT5D21 instead of the NS-RMT8D21 and with the paperwork codes for the

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680
While not as nice as the 3660 or 3680 the NS-RMT5D21 still is an 8 device remote
For instance From your download of the NS-RMT5D21 set up Dev4 with what you want to control
to activate it make a macro on a key with just Dev4 in it
I myself disable activities and use those keys for my extra devices

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680
I could try that, but I disable the Activities keys and use them for startup macros on the 3661 (essentially the same as the 3660 with slight variations for Europe). For example, the TV activity switches on my TV set and my Receiver. The film activity switches those on and also my DVD/BluRay player. Shift-film activity does the same but switches on the VCR instead. Music switches on my CD player and Amplifier only. In every case, also deals with input selection. So those keys are taken. I'm hoping the trader will just send me out the right one, as it's too expensive to return an item to China. I wonder if they even know what they have!

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680
The trader has offered a 50% refund and I keep the RMT5D21. I suggested that, instead, he sells me a RMT8D21 at half price but he takes action to ensure that the right one is sent this time. We'll see what he says when he gets back to me.

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680
My seller has already given me a full refund and I get to keep the RMT5D21
I doubt the seller actually has the RMT8D21
So Lesson learned, and I have another remote

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680
Mine has no more RMT8D21 so I am also stuck with the RMT5D21. I am having an issue with RMIR with it though. The option "Disable Activities" under the Advanced menu is not appearing. I thought that it ought to if the whole family of remotes are essentially the same. Is it an error in the RDF file? I might need to look at it and compare it to the URC-3661 RDF file.

Disable activities shows up for my RMT5D21 what version of RMIR are you using?
