S.M.S.L. PL-100 CD Player
I have uploaded an RMDU file for this CD player here:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=27255.
If anyone knows or can find out discrete Power On and Power Off codes, I would be grateful for that information. I will also be trying out by trial and error to find them myself and if I find anything I will add the information myself.

OBCs 0 and 15 are the only gaps in the OBC sequence, so I would test those first, then test anything over 25.

Tried that. 0, 15, and everything from 25 to 63. Also 126, 127, 254, 255. Only 28 did anything which was to duplicate the Eject/Load button. The Robman wrote:OBCs 0 and 15 are the only gaps in the OBC sequence, so I would test those first, then test anything over 25.

I was curious about this CD player, as I'd never heard of it, so here's an online review:

It's good to know that some people are still using CDs, as am I. If anyone is in the market for a CD or DVD player, you can usually find them at thrift stores for around $5 each.

I bought this CD player because it has a coaxial digital output. When my old Pioneer A209R started humming badly, I got a Cambridge Audio One, which is a CD Receiver. I paid £!50 for a £350 unit because it was a factory 'return and repair' job. The weakness was the CD player which, like this SMSL, is a slot-loader. Trouble is, it rejects some CDs, other times it won't eject them, and it's got worse with time. Even when it was behaving, it put gaps between tracks which ruined live albums and stuff like Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. The Robman wrote:I was curious about this CD player, as I'd never heard of it, so here's an online review:

The other problem with the Cambridge was that it had one analogue input, one optical digital, one coaxial digital, one USB digital and bluetooth inputs. Only the coax input was spare!
I was a bit nervous about getting another CD player with slot loading, but straight away you feel a difference between it and the CD slot on the Cambridge. I found a 3-inch CD single, and tried that. Yes, it loaded properly, played correctly and ejected properly. The sound quality is great, It sounded cleaner than I remember the Cambridge when I used it to play CDs, even though it's using the same DAC. We'll see how it holds out over time, but first impressions are really good.

I've had to replace my amp/receiver recently, and I was able to pick up a Sony STR-K870P from the thrift store for $15, the only problem with it is, the display is dim. Oh, and it doesn't have quite enough inputs for everything, so my VCR is not currently connected, but like, when was the last time I needed that?
My CD changer also gave out at some point, but I found a dual deck unit in the basement, so I dropped that in instead.
The truth is though; I only really use the stereo system as speakers for the TV these days. I have ripped all of my CDs onto my computer, and when I play music, it's mostly from MP3s on my phone playing through a Bluetooth speaker. But I do still play CDs in the car. I have a 2013 Toyota Sienna that came with a CD player from the factory, and it's probably one of the last models to do so. I hate that they phased out CD players.
I do still buy CDs, in fact, I just had box sets from the Icicle Works and the Yachts arrive this week.

I will add this info in case it can help anyone
I once bought a discounted Panasonic 5 Disc CD changer that did not have remote capability
It did however have a link jack on it that is supposed to go to a Panasonic receiver
and operate through the receiver
Since my receiver was not Panasonic I built a box using a IR receiver from Radio Shack and a 5 volt power supply
Using a jp1 remote i scanned through the Panasonic Cd player codes
and found the correct code I now had a Cd changer with remote capabilities
So in case you ever run into this on other machines you could try this method

Hey Randy, that's great, there are lots of units from that era that don't have remote sensors but do have a jack where you're supposed to connect then to the main AV receiver in order to make them remote controllable. I think my old Kenwood system was like that.
So, can you give more details on what you put together for this?

The IR module I used was RS 276-137B
I do not think the B in radio shack numbers matters
I just found some here
https://www.ebay.com/str/ntcsurplusoutl ... 61.l170197
I used a 5 volt salvaged power supply but now a days I think a USB charger would be perfect for this
I wired power to module and a salvaged cable with a stereo 3.5 mm plug that fit my jack
I do not remember the pin out for the plug. If attempted, I suggest opening up your CD player and check the jack with a meter
I do remember the first attempt did not work so i changed the V out on the plug
and then it worked

Looking back it was a Technics Cd carousel
and from a schematic I just downloaded it looks like the ring is the V out on the plug to the jack, the sleeve to Grd and tip vcc.
Of course different brands may have a different configuration
I must say back then it sure made me happy I got it working
