MOD303 (remote MRC30) for Slingbox .bin
Moderator: Moderators
Dear Alan Richey,
Even though the double register problem is fixed, I'm still having trouble using the "language" button. I see in your previous post that you assigned the "language" button to the white button (next to blue one), but when I tried pressing it on Slingbox.com, all the color buttons seem faded out and unpressable, including the white one. Could you please have a look at it? Or am I neglecting something?
If you're going to remap the buttons, could you please assign language to the blue button? because I don't see a white button on my iPad Slingplayer nor on my SlingCatcher remote and blue seems to be on every remote. The language button is the same as the pound/number sign button on the MOD remote. Thank you!

I can't explain that, I just uploaded the BIN file at
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=11592 and all the colour buttons were enabled.
What settings are you selecting during the setup ?

Country: Taiwan
Video Source: Composite
Test Remote: Miscellaneous, Custom, then upload your PL.bin file.
Program Guide: Skip
Internet Viewing: Works and Portforwarded
The color buttons with the updated bin still don't work, still faded out. I'm suspecting it's just Sling programmers didn't do their job right. They're making it too difficult for end users to figure out how to configure the color buttons, if they were supposed to work at all.
Here is my alternative solution: Is it possible that you assign the # (language) to a button that's rather useless to me? Such the Page Up button? because I never use it. Since Page buttons are enabled on the Slingremote, I figured that might be easier to work with, just replace the Up with #(language).
Sorry about the back and forth inquiries. Thank you for your kind help.

Oh MY! It's working now! what a shame for my stupid mistake! I didn't know there was "custom" for categories other than miscellaneous. Thank you so much for all your help and troubleshooting.
Can I ask you another question? I have 10MB upload speed from my Slingbox Solo in Taiwan but I only have ~1200 kbps streaming rate at the remote end. Even though latency is expected as there is 7000 miles between the two ends, as well as the nature of TCP protocol, I was expecting something better than 1200 kbps since 10MB is a really fast upload speed. I read somewhere that a Pro HD would have higher streaming output, does that mean the Solo was designed to cap at the speed just enough for SD viewing? Even then, I have been experiencing a lot of frame drops during fast motion scenes such as sport shows, which is quite disappointing. Any suggestions other than getting the Pro HD/500/350?
Thank you once again.

Dear Alan,
It's been many years since you first helped me create BIN files for my cable boxes. I hope you're doing well all these years.
This is an old thread but if you can see this, the cable provider recently upgraded my STB and I have to press every button twice for it to register. I figured it must have something to do with the repeat rate. I was wondering if you could help me change the repeat rate of this BIN file so the buttons double click?

The new STB name is Chunghwa MOD502A.
Much much appreciate it.

Hi
It's only been 10 years
I have to be honest, I have completely forgotten how to change the repeat value on Custom Remotes. I can recall it was something in the normal software. Sorry about that.
How have you kept your Slingbox working ? I managed to keep my Slingbox M1 running locally until a couple of months ago when I changed router, and now I can't get it to work. I know it has something to do with port forwarding but can't remember that either (I am getting on a bit now
)

Hi Alan,
As a reminder, this is one of those protocols where he originally had the double-click problem (ie, 2 registered as 22, etc), so you re-made the upgrade using a no-repeats version of the protocol. Perhaps all that is needed is to revert it back to the repeating version?

GerryDazoo's Slinger!
The power of internet led me to one of Gerry's discussions on Reddit. That's when I found out he had been working on this program that could save everyone's Slingboxes from the Big Sling kill switch.
The setup was quite convoluted. I struggled a lot because I have zero background in computer and networking. Thankfully, Gerry made his release notes layman enough I managed to follow and made it all work.
I also remember seeing your comment on some of his Github discussion threads? I figured you might've given it a try as well. I don't have an M1 but I remember seeing some newer models are more difficult to setup. I'm lucky my boxes are Pro-HDs which can be factory reset if bricked.
I recommend picking up a Pro-HD on eBay if you miss using Slingbox. You seem computer literate, so maybe it's easier for you. Once it's all set up, it's about as good as the good old days.
Yes this is 100% correct. Thank you too, Rob, for assisting from way back to now. The original BIN version that Alan made for me is the one I'm now looking for. Only if I knew my cable company would pull a switcharoo on me down the road, I would've saved the original version. The Robman wrote:Hi Alan,

Is it possible you could help me Alan? I see on the MOD303 BIN download page that someone downloaded as late as early this month. So the double click version may be helpful to others as well. If not, is there someone or any resources you could point me to?
Thank you so much. I'm as grateful as ever.
