Hitachi HTA-DD3 A/V receiver

Post by Albik »

Help for HITACHI HTA-DD3. It's an old and modest receiver that I would like to keep alive because it has a phono input. I'm only interested in the amplifier control set.

1. Device: HITACHI HTA-DD3
2. Type of device: audio/video receiver
3. Year: 2000
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC 11-2981 R00
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? No (RB-DD1S)
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? Yes (Hitachi_HTA-DD3w.txt)
10. Learning remote question? No
11. Have you tried the JP1 Lookup Tool? No
12. If you have a OARUSB04G, URC-6440 (or similar) remote, have you tried simpleset.com?

Question 9 is really asking if you've found a built-in setup code that, at least, partially works. You gave a file name as the answer, which makes me think that that should be the answer to question 7, as I am assuming that is a file in the file section. Of course, just giving us the name of the physical file doesn't help us know what's IN the file, we'd need a link to the file to see that.

So, bottom line, if you've already found a file that works your receiver, what are you really asking for? The file name appears to be a perfect match to your device, is it missing some buttons? Help me understand what sort of help you're looking for.

Sorry if I didn't fill out the form correctly.
No OFA preset works, so I searched and successfully uploaded the file found here https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=1207 . The power button, volume + - and CD input selection work and nothing else. Unfortunately many of the most important functions of the amp can only be configured from the remote control. As a beginner I ask for help from the more experienced on how to find and add other functions.

Ok, thanks for the update, we now have a clearer picture of where you're at. The fact that at least some of the buttons in that upgrade work, means that we know the protocol and the device code (NEC1 dev 91). So, here's how I recommend you proceed. I have created 7 test upgrades, which cover all the OBCs from 0-255 and have loaded them into an RMIR file that you can load into your remote. If you load this RMIR file into your remote, you can then test all of the buttons in each device mode (ignore the AUX device, as that's not needed). I have also created a spreadsheet that lists all of the codes that I've used. When you find a button that does something, you can come back to the spreadsheet, find the appropriate entry and update the description. I have done the first 3 buttons, as OBCs 0,1,2 are power, vol+ and vol-. I don't know which button selects the CD input, as that's not included in the upgrade that you referenced.

if you see a button does something, but it's not clear what it does, try pressing it a few times to see what changes. Once you've compiled a list of all the buttons that you've found, we can build a new upgrade for this device.
