Maybe it doesn't matter, but the correct way to move an EFC from Dev2 on Dev1 is:
[Setup] [994] [Dev2] [Setup] [EFC#] [Dev1] [assigned key]

Regardless, why are you doing manual keymoves on the remote? You can just add them in RMIR. And when you say "crashes", what happens exactly? Does the remote reset itself?

I was explaining my previous experience with key moves on the Charter URC.

The sequence given in the previous post works on the 3660.
I just tried your sequence and it did not even generate the correct OBC.

I have seen three types of crashes, with more details from my IR detector,

the previous key repeated (until you hit the device button),
correct OBC w/current device protocol or
garbage for both OBC & protocol.

All three TV setup codes that you've mentioned all use the standard NEC1 protocol, so all should not present any problems for keymoves:
TV/1864=NEC1 132.224
TV/1944=NEC1 135.34
TV/1963=NEC1 135.34

If you want to do something like, have the device button set to one setup code (like TV/1864) but have some keymoves from another setup code (like TV/1963), and you're doing this on the remote itself rather than RMIR, the easiest way to do it is:
1. program the device button to TV/1963
2. program the TV/1963 keymoves (ie, [Setup] [994] [Setup] [EFC#] [key] )
3. re-program the device button to TV/1864

If the setup code or upgrade assigned to the device button is a combo, you can't do "EFC" style keymoves but you can do "key" style keymoves.

Doing that on the Charter, the OBC remains, but its protocol changes to the new setup code.

Both setup codes use the same protocol, so that's not it.

Do me a favor, please try this:

1. program the device button to TV/1963, program the keymoves that you want, do some using EFCs and some using the "key", and confirm that they all work. For the "key" ones, you'll need to program them to different buttons, but that's ok for this test. Download and save this RMIR file as file1.

2. re-program the device button to TV/1864 and confirm that the keymoves do not work. Download and save this RMIR file as file2.

3. assuming the keymoves do not work in #2 above, can you learn the keymoved buttons from the Charter using your URC-3660 and save that RMIR file as file3.

3. Zip the 3 files together for me to look at.

The results shown in TV-1864 were more typical for most Charter setup codes compared to TV-1963/1944. We have two Charter URCs, so this is not just a damaged unit.

Oh, I didn't notice them there, the Notes column on the Learned tab might have been better, I'll take a closer look.

The learned keys contain the results of two tests performed on my Charter URC in the following sequence,
DVD EFC Slow @A-yellow,
AUX EFC Mode @Menu,
DVD key Repeat @Day-,
AUX Mode, after Power key,*
DVD Slow, after Power key,
AUX Mode, after DVD Repeat key &
DVD Slow, after DVD Repeat key.

Learned keys 1-7 contain the results where AUX= TV-1963.
Learned keys Red, Green, Yellow, Blue & Apps 1-3 contain the same order of tests where AUX= TV-1864.

*Pressing the AUX button to clear repeating key behavior was used, when necessary, to continue the test.

This appears to be the summary of what you did:

The dev 69 entries originated with keymoves from DVD/0503 and they were unaffected by the change. How did you program those keymoves? Did you use a different method than what you used with the problematic ones?

I have no idea why your "internal" keymoves don't survive a setup code change, as they would on any other remote, but given your results, try something like this:

1. program AUX to TV/1864
2. temporarily program DVD to TV/1963
3. do external keymoves (EFC or key) from DVD to AUX
4. re-program DVD to DVD/0503

see if that works. maybe test the keymoves before step 4, just in case that ends up breaking them

In manual programming, the Charter won't let you change the device types of the CBL, TV or DVD buttons. AUX seems to accept all three device types, though. (The failure that I sent you is the same if did it at the TV button, rather than the AUX button.)

We no longer need to resolve the manual programming bugs on the Charter, since single & combo device upgrades are working.

You said that each function has four bytes, Dev, Subdev OBC & Hex. The Charter appears to only be storing the last two bytes of EFCs and letting the setup code (or external key move) determine the first two bytes.

Until I moved over to the 3660, this was my workaround for TV-1963,...

Also, two of the formats my detector reports are 6122 & 6122A. I noticed that on all but one of the 6122s, the Dev# & Subdev# are complementary, where those of the 6122As are not. Is that what you were talking about earlier?
