Has anyone written a more up to date Windows version of this using a simple USB interface? I this method about 10 years ago or more for a remote and it was a bit of pain back then.

I noticed many new remotes can upload codes easily and was wondering if anything new has come to the JP1 world. Thanks.

There are a few new developments since then. Some remotes have USB and bluetooth interfaces built in now. So you can download codes from UEI and use with RMIR that way. The one I use a lot is the OARUSB04G which has a USB interface and can get codes/config from the Simpleset UEI website. You might find this Youtube series about it informative:

Some of the newer remotes also have more sophisticated "activity" macros that can do what we used to have to do with keymoves and extenders, as well as new kinds of macros (timed), variable backlight colors, etc.

We've updated the Wiki pages along the way, but may not have documented the later stuff completely. But the basics haven't really changed. You still connect the remote in some way, and load/create device upgrades and modify the config in RMIR.
