Now that you have RMIR, you can have a different mindset. The remote is a blank slate. Doesn?t matter what?s built in or not. You can load any device, protocol or individual button functions you wish. I don?t bother trying to use built in codes. I just search our file section for the closest matches to my devices and load/tweak those. If I can?t find certain devices, I learn then convert to an upgrade, arrange the buttons how I like, and I?m done. Whole process doesn?t take long at all. Far quicker and easier that the capture and analysis and searching you?re doing now. |

I plugged the cable into the remote, ran the app & plugged the cable into the USB port. When I plugged the cable in, the computer booped.
When I tried to "download from the remote," I got the error, "No remotes found!"
This happened with the Spectrum 4-device & Onn 6-device remotes.
What now?
(Do I have to leave the batteries in the remote for this process?) _________________ SysTech Larry |

Plug the cable into the computer before you open the app. Set interface to Auto. Yes, leave the batteries in. |

Would "Auto" be auto-detect?
It initiated a download sequence, then went back to "No remotes found!" _________________ SysTech Larry |

It's not detecting your cable. Which one did you buy?
Also need to move that unzipped folder to your Documents folder and run setup again. |

I just plugged in my cable to the computer with no remote attached, and it still booped. Should that happen? _________________ SysTech Larry |

Can you confirm that you got the wires in the right spots?
The instructions say:
pin - type - color
1 - (empty):VDD
2 - RTS (usually Yellow)
3 - GND (usually Black)
4 - TXD (usually Green)
5 - (empty)
6 - RXD (usually White)
CTS (usually Blue, not connected)
5V (usually Red, not connected)
The eBay listing confirms that your cable uses the same colors:
Red wire: 5V
Black wire: GND
White wire: RXD
Green wire: TXD
Yellow wire: RTS
Blue wire: CTS

There is no need to uninstall. I don't know if the boop is good or bad. Do you see the USB cable in device manager? If so, note the comm port and select that in RMIR under JP1 serial. If you don't see it in device manager, you'll need to find a driver. |

Can you plug yours in without a remote and see if it still boops? | I get Boo-beep (low-high) when plugging in, Bee-boop (high-low) when unplugging. After plugging in, if I press Win+X (on windows laptop) and Device Manager - Ports (COM & LPT), I see "USB Serial Port (COM5)" (3 & 4 are taken by bluetooth). In RMIR, I can go to Remote - Interface - JP1.X Serial and pick Auto or COM5, and the cable works. I plug in to the remote so pin 1 is on the bottom left of my 3660.
Hope that helps. |

It started to work when I changed the setting to COM6.
It said my Onn 6-device [M#100020904] URC was unknown and asked if it was a 3660 or a 3680.
It correctly identified my Charter OCAP URC and downloaded its contents. _________________ SysTech Larry |
