If you have a new remote that isn't recognized by RMIR, post the details here so we can help create a new RDF for it. Or, if there is an issue with an existing RDF or map, this is the place.

346904 TalkTalk YouView URC179251-02R00 RDF Creation

Post by Knuckx »

Yep, another UK Pay TV provider uses UEI for their remote control!
Here's the official documentation and code list; this remote is a V2.

This one is a JP1.4 remote with no device selection, but two device segments - TV for the two green buttons in the top row/punchthroughs, STB for eveything else. Connector is standard 6pin header in the battery compartment, fitted from the factory, unlike Sky.

I've made an RDF which will let RMIR download, but have no idea how to begin making the [ButtonMaps] [Protocols] [SetupCodes] RDF sections. I think I understand the format for them, and have edited them in the past, but I have no idea where to get the information from to make them from nothing - help please? (this remote has no Learn, Keymove, DSM or Macro support from 9xx commands, or I would have tried that method for buttons). EDIT: It has macros (not via 9xx), they use segment type $03, and RMIR wont download if this segment type exists. I have used this segment $03 macro to populate [Buttons].

RDF so far:

Hello Friends, is there any RDF & MAPS Available for this remote? its a jp1.4 remote, I could not find any details regarding this remote in the file section.
Or do i have to extract from it, but masters don't have time to make a rdf file, as my previous request is pending from months.
here is the pic

If this is for personal use, could you please tell me what all your other requests for RDFs have been for? Also, what has happened that makes you now need this one desperately?

In Fact I Need all the remotes desperately, but since Rob is very very busy from Dec 2023 & don't have time for RDF's & Maps, and i have spend money on these remotes, so i thought you might come for my rescue if I say this word.
Also with due respect to the masters, if they don't have time to make RDF and MAPS, so i would kindly request them to remove this sticky thread Have a new remote, need an RDF? this would serve present members and to be future members to refrain from spending their hard earn money.

I take it that you also said you needed the RDF "for personal use" to get my attention. You have not said WHY you need all these remotes. The quantity of your requests suggests to me that they are NOT for personal use but for some commercial use such as resale. This is a hobbyist website, the experts are all unpaid volunteers. Creating an RDF is neither quick nor easy. It is quite time-consuming and needs expert knowledge. I for one am not prepared to spend my time working to help you to earn money. If you had to pay for my time, it would cost you far more than the remotes are worth.

Let me save you from spending any more hard-earned money on remotes and expecting me to make RDFs from them, by telling you now that I will not do so. I will still help genuine hobbyists when I can, so we will not be removing this thread.

You have not said WHY you need all these remotes
I didn't knew before hand that i have to give an explanation every time for creating rdf & maps if my request surpasses a couple of remotes.
I thought these rdf and maps would also help other forum members if they by chance acquire same models which i have, like i have got many models rdf and maps without any request as they were already available on the forum, if going by you assumption that i am using it commercially, Then i may also not be allowed to download different Remotes from this forum, As this is a hobbyist website, Right?
I will still help genuine hobbyists when I can, so we will not be removing this thread.
Well its yours choice, you can assume anything, whether one is a Genuine or Fake, as we all live in a democratic world and everyone has a right to say.
But to tell you from my side I am a Hobbyist collector of Sattellite STB's, I get these Stb's from our local Flea Market and they all come without original Remotes, so for that i need these jp1 remotes to programme them to use in my stb's also these jp1 remotes i buy from my flea market, Rob knows it,at present 8-10 dofferent models of Stb's are in my wordrobe and i can upload all thier pics.

@Tiku

You can do what you like with the data available on this website. What you can't do is expect me to create RDFs on demand for you.

@Tiku

Sounds like a fun hobby. But when any single JP1 remote could control all of your devices, it's not really worth the huge amount of effort involved to create RDFs for all these rare vintage remotes nobody else will ever use. Typically, RDFs for new remotes will benefit far more people. Graham works incredibly hard behind the scenes to maintain RMIR and new RDFs. In a perfect world we would have RDFs for all JP1 remotes. But that just doesn't work in reality.

My recommendation to you is that you pick a couple of remotes you already have which are already supported and use those. You could even buy several of the same model to use with the units you resell. This would make everyone's lives much easier.

TalkTalk Youview

Post by Tiku »

Hi,I have two TalkTalk Youview remotes with me URC179251-02R00 & URC179252-01R00, unfortunately none of them is working with the RDF-MAPS, already made by someone, which is there in RMIR Database, I am getting no remote found, when i click on download, where as my other Tele2 remote is working fine, i have selected the correct comport and the remote from the file.
Can some help me out?
Thanks.
