My first post , starting with a little introduction first.
I was using Harmony Remotes (885 and 900) after I had a Sony AV1100 for several years. They all broke after some time of use, mostly they failed the couch drop test some day Rolling Eyes

Now with harmony shutting down and no universal remote since two years I am searching a new cheaper remote (Europe Area). I have some experience with electronics and computer/IoT stuff (Wemos, Arduino, XU4, Raspi etc.)

So going the JP1 route seems like a good choice. After some research I couldn't find a cheap and in europe available remote that fits my needs.
Mostly more than 4 devices and macro capable but also having a lot of hardware buttons.

The one i found now has all that despite the fact it seems no JP1 remote. Anyways it was only 8 euros so good for a first try.

Now to the remote.
Different brands possible:
    JayCar AR1719
    Digitech AR1719
    CLR 7922-E6
    PacoStar PRC 8460

The description from a website:

Code:
6 device banks, TV, VCR, STB, CBL, DVD, AUX.
Each device has 43*2 keys, use SHIFT key to swap 2 pages of 43 keys.
4 macro keys, each key can combine at most 6 single function keys.
All of codes are programmed from PC software with USB cable.
Learning function when connecting to PC.
Search code function in PC software.
Detect and identify models in software by learning function.
Macro key function and timer function, 4 keys.
Having a mini port which is connected to PC with standard USB cable, which is also used in mobile phone.
When connecting to PC, remote is identified to be HID device, no driver software is needed. It is compatible for USB2.0 protocol.

Software can be downloaded from website, after downloading, no internet connecting is needed.
There are 3 main parts in software.
Programming function.
Identifying function.
Learning function and editing function.
Factory database, my database and shared database.
User can setup and manage own database without offering to us.

Factory database is updated frenquently.
Strong searching code function when connecting remote to PC.
Also, key code search and learning search function are available.

The remote will arrive this week. I will try to connect it also to the JP1 software avail to see what it finds.

Here is a website of the remote:
https://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/czlyw1/product-detailJbuxzMmPJqhs/China-6-in-1-USB-PC-Programmable-Remote-Control-With-Macro-Function-CLR7922-E6-.html

The software for download looks similar to RCCreator

Anyone has experience with this remote?

I know the Wiki list of remotes and already tried to find several remotes marked to be avail in europe but not much was found to be available for purchase.
Maybe when harmony is finally offline we will get some more JP1 available worldwide.

Anyways thx for reading and if you have some tipps or suggestions (more for remotes to buy or regarding the one I bought) let me know.

Stay safe

You’re right. That’s not a JP1 remote. I’d recommend an Xsight/Nevo or Inteset INT-422 which is actually an 8 device remote using JP1 (4 device without.

Best of luck with that one.

EDIT: I missed the Europe part. There are lots more good JP1 remotes in Europe than anywhere else. Nothing on the One For All site appeals to you?

Hi mdavej,

thx for the quick response.

It looks bad on the Xsight/Nevo side in my country. Only batteries are available.

The Inteset INT-422 howecer looks very promising (also extender avail) and could be purchased via import from UK. Around 40€ mostly sometimes including sometime with an additional transport/tax fee of approx 12 €. That is an option.

OFA available are URC7980, 7955, 7140,7130,7120,7110 but non of them are in the JP1 table.
The URC7960 is in the JP1 table but out of stock, at least for now.

When I filter the rest of the table for EU I couldn't find anything matching and available. The table is large so checking every possible remote with shop selsection would take a while.
Thats why I took the CLR 7922-E6 from ebay in the end. Maybe I am lucky as it has usb (with a software) and macros on board already. I will try to make some pictures and retreive some data if it is possible.

I also found some internal pictures already. The remote manufacturer is basically Changzhou Longer Electronics Co.. and under the following URL the EMC VERIFICATION SUMMARY could be found. They have a bunch of remotes where only the layout differs but the remote inside seems to be the same or similar. Unfortunat the pictures don't allow to read the chip inscription.
https://www.silver-star.gr/images/_pdf/CLR7983-E4_CEtestreport_SRC-9000.pdf

EDIT:
Here is another link showing the software manual in PDF. The IR Files are saved in text format, examples in the pdf. Maybe someone can already read something out of this.
http://www.clurc.net/upld/Longforyou/V7/User_manual_Longer_PRC_En_V20.pdf

Thx and take care

I will certainly be curious to know how the new remote is, once you get a chance to play with it. For example, if you can learn signals and then look at the learned signal using their software, I would be curious to see the format of the learned data, and Barf might want to include support for it in his software (he's in Germany too).

Bought it via ebay, here we go
https://www.ebay.de/itm/372862207712?hash=item56d051c6e0:g:WqQAAOSw18ZdiNUK

Seller has several devices from that manufacturer (sometime also called ALIEN)

Here is the OEM page

Update on the first tests done with that remote:
1. Software is not available anymore on the homepage. I downloaded it some days ago now (looking for a new version) gives me an 502 Error.

2. The remote connects but the exact remote type has to be selected everytime new.

3. Remote driver install was no problem on Win10

4. Database is very extensive and updates, over 700000 devices are now in it. BUT my TV, AMP and the settop box is not in it. Found a workaround for the TV (other number matched the controls). AMP has to be learned by infrared vs mode.

Some files can be loaded but when I try to flash them I get an out of bounce error. So the files are not matched to the remote in advance, it seems.

5. The settop box is covered by name but the file does not work. Has to be learned as well. One problem persists, the power toggle cannot be learned. No reaction of the Sky Q box.

After learning and uploading into the remote I don't see the codes anymore. It does not downlod the learned codes from remote. All preselcted codes are downloaded on the other hand. However you can save/load the project and a single device IR codes.

5. Macros work but restricted to six commands. Good thing is the commands can be overall installed devices on the remote. So an all-on or all-off can be done. Length of the signal can be adjusted in ms, default is 500ms.

6. RMIR does not see the remote at all. Even RAW dump does not work.

7. Took it apart (breaking most of the side locks) to see the chip data for info. Bummer scraped off, nothing to see and broke it for nothing. The layout however looks like in the EMC PDF from above.

Thats it for now.

See the files from the project or IR save below:

So maybe some of you know some mor ways to get into the internals of the remote.

After all the Int-422 got even more interesting. I will check if my Sky Q box is supported in advance.

Regards and stay safe

Update on the first tests done with that remote:
1. Software is not available anymore on the homepage. I downloaded it some days ago now (looking for a new version) gives me an 502 Error.

What is the URL? There may be an archive of it at http://web.archive.org

6. RMIR does not see the remote at all. Even RAW dump does not work.

That's to be expected as it's definitely not a UEI remote.

The software update works again. It recieved a new version 26/05/2021 so they were updating the files when I tried. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, wasn't expecting any data as well, just tried.
I downloaded some USB Analyser software to check the raw data transfer to the remote. If I find something useful I'll post it here.

I uploaded a zip file containing the following data:

Remote read dump in txt format
Remote write dump in text format
Remote packet write dump saved in txt format

Link
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=download&file_id=26336

Maybe one of you can read something out of it.

I took my multimeter and tried to measure some pins. The EEPROM chip seems a M14128 chip (I could more or less read the imprint)
Code:
 MCU
1-NC
2-
3-GND
4-
5-
6-
7-
8-
9-
10-IR LED via a transistor
11-
12-LED in Pwr Button
13-
14-
15-
16-
17-
18-
19-
20-PWR
21-XTAL 12 MHz
22-XTAL
23-SCL
24-SDA

EEPROM M14128
1-NC
2-NC
3-NC
4-GND
5-SDA
6-SCL
7-WC connected to GND
8-PWR
