JP1 wont work

Post by pa911 »

I have just completed my JP1 - but it wont work.

I have read all the troubleshooting and tried everything but the error msg : No response from the remote. Make sure your interface is plugged into JP1 properly.

I have already tried:
1. the assembly of the JP1 - at least 100 times - all cables are connected correctly
2. the throuput from pin to pin - all are ok
3. a probably errounous diode
4. battery in/out
5. turn around the 6pin in the remote - the error msg then is: No response from interface. Make sure that the interface is connected to the pc. and that youve specified the correct port.
6. soldered a ´connector from pin 18-26 on DS25
7. different port settings

Sorry to bother you with this probably trivial question - but I am desperate now - I dont know what else to try.

Thaks so much for any advice

I have used a Toshiba Laptop, a Dreambox remote and IR500 and IR321

What type of diode did you use? Laptop's seem to be happier with the Schotky diode. Also, what value resistors? The latest rev calls for 1k. Is the printer port enabled in both the BIOS and OS on the laptop?

I used a Diode 1N4148 - dont know if thats a Schotky. The resistors are each 1k. And the printerport should be enabled since I print all the time? - I did not know I can disable it.

I used the latest instructions on assembly.

Since laptops tend to have lower voltage thresholds on their printer ports, the use of a Schottky 1N5818 seems to help the Simple interface be more tolerant. The problem is that this diode is not readily available in retail, so it's a little more difficult to find.

That would indicate that it is enabled. Do you know if it's configured with any special settings. One of my desktops uses an "Epson Printer Port" and the JP1 simple interface will NOT work on it. If I reconfigure it as a standard LPT port, JP1 works fine, but then my printer doesn't.

You might want to try rebooting the laptop and then immediately try to use JP1 before the printer is ever used. Some printer drivers can lock the port after their first use.

I have exactly the same simptoms like pa911.

First interface didn't want to connect and then when I gived up my remote is not working on dream anymore.

On tv is working great, but not on dream.

Led is blinking and that's all.
