Bose Solo TV Speaker (soundbar)

If you have learned signals that don't get decoded when you look at them in IR.exe, post your file to the Diagnosis Area then post your question here (including a link to the file).

Bose Solo TV Speaker (soundbar)

Post by Anthony_Patrick »

I have just purchased the new Bose Solo TV Speaker (soundbar) which I would like to integrate with my URC2025(B0-B1) remote. However, I cannot find a protocol for my remote that works for this soundbar. (note that protocol ID: 010C does not work - it sends wrong patterns).

I have included this IR Scope summary dump:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=14485
in the diagnostics area that maps out the Bose remote that shipped with the soundbar. There are only eight functions: Power on/off; + (volume up); - (volume down); mute; TV (source); Bluetooth; Dialogue.

Any help identifying the protocol would be much appreciated.

I agree with the decodes in that file, the problem is that the Bose protocol is not supported in protocols.ini yet. According to DecodeIR the UEI executor is $010C.

If someone were to create a protocols.ini entry for Bose, which includes the MAXQ610 code used by the URC-2025, you should be good to go.

Mute : Protocol=Bose OBC=1
(Volume down) : Protocol=Bose OBC=2
(Volume up) : Protocol=Bose OBC=3
TV (input source) : Protocol=Bose OBC=14
Power on/off : Protocol=Bose OBC=76
Dialogue : Protocol=Bose OBC=128
Bluetooth : Protocol=Bose OBC=129
BASS : Protocol=Bose OBC=130

I added Bose to protocols.ini. Get it from SourceForge It's been tested with a MAXQ remote.

Ok Tony, if you download the latest protocols.ini (from the link above), you can use this upgrade:

Hi everyone. I've tested all of this and it is working. My Bose Solo TV Speaker (soundbar) is now integrated and works perfectly with my URC-2025. Many thanks. :D :D :D

I'll be testing this on a couple of older remotes that I have as well and if you don't hear from me you can assume they work as well.

Rob, thanks for creating the RDMU device upgrade file with the key definitions for the Bose. That was something I was going to do just as soon as this was all working - although I would have used a different key mapping and slightly different text. You should be aware that the + (volume) and - (volume) buttons also work as + (bass) and - (bass) when the Bose soundbar is in "BASE" mode and that can be somewhat confusing although there is a LED indicator on the Bose soundbar to show this is happening. The TV and Bluetooth buttons are "source" channel input choices - there are only the two input choices.

Again everyone, thanks a million. Your quick response just blew me away!

Yeah, I had no idea how the buttons would be used, so I assigned them somewhat randomly. If you have a better suggestion for their assignment, I will update the file.

Thanks Rob. I posted my candidate RDMU for the Bose here (diagnostics area):
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=14488

The reasons for how I named and mapped the Bose functions are documented in the notes. You are welcome to use my function names and assignments to replace your file if you think that won't confuse people.

Again thanks for all your help.
