Sony RM-ANU207 remote for devices: HT-ST5, HT-ST7, HT-XT1

Post by freebase1ca »

Hello, I made the mistake of buying a Sony HT-XT1 soundbar without an IR remote. Although there is an Android compatible app for bluetooth, it doesn't expose all of the features. It also resets the bluetooth prefs after a few hours. Harmony has a device for it, but it only has basic features like vol +/-.

You are my only hope!

1. Device: Sony HT-XT1
2. Type of device: Sound Bar
3. Year: 2015?
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC8910
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? No
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? No
10. Learning remote question? n/a
11. Have you tried the JP1 Lookup Tool? Yes

As always, thanks for this site and your great help!

It's been almost a year, but I thought I'd better post an update...

I tried all the Sony protocols but the best I could do was get the volume control to work. No power and no menu buttons (what I really needed).

Last month I finally knuckled under and paid the $60 for an OEM remote. To my surprise, it failed in exactly the same way!

Turns out that this display unit I had purchased from Best Buy was left in a "Demo" mode. So for the past year when I have chosen my required source, it would quietly revert back to "Bluetooth" after a few minutes of silence (maddening). For some damn reason Sony doesn't see fit to mention in their manuals that there might be a demo mode or how to get out of it :-/

Thankfully, typical approaches for disabling demo mode on Sony TVs also worked for this device. I only had to hold down the power button on the device for 20 or so seconds and the device started acting as it should - thank heavens.

All the remote buttons now work. So, it turns out that a generic Sony protocol works just fine with this class of device. At least Sony hasn't broken that tradition.

That's good news, hopefully you can return the OEM remote and get your money back.
