Not sure what I'm doing wrong ??
I'm new to JP1 and have a new Inteset INT-422 remote , Just recently had help gettting the new RDU set-up in the system and now I am trying to get the hang of the process of upgrading codes and tinkering with it. I'm following the "How Do You Load An Upgrade" in just for beginners area and cant seem to get it right? I can download and upload the base file that was created for a baseline of this new remote and all the basics that are programmed seem to work fine, but when I download and tweak the upgrade file and copy and paste it into IR like instructed , re-download it nothing operates, I dont see any codes present in the IR program like I do in the RM program while I'm tweaking the downloaded file?? So I figure I am not doing a paste into the device area correctly or something ?? No Idea....

Looks ok to me. Maybe it's the A setup code lock ON on the general tab that keeps it from working. In any case, I replaced your base with upgrade with my version. So download and try it.
For others looking at these files, here's the RDF/Map/Image for this new remote:

Just notice the rest of your post mentioning the "IR" program. You don't need that at all, no copy/paste either. Make sure you follow the RMIR version of the tutorial, not the IR version.
The steps I took were open base file in RMIR, click Devices, click New, click Open, pick your Sony file, OK, select to assign to device A, OK, save, download.

Yours worked like a charm,I cant believe that one little missed detailed had me messed up and beating my head against the table for a day or 2 now... now I'll try to program the DTV reciever to button D and see if I got the hang of it, I'm at work this weekend tinkering with the work components for practice.....
OK, that was my issue, was NOT using the RMIR version....
One more thing, I figured out after programming the DTV receiver to button "D" I also had to select "D" as the initial device mode before uploading to remote, before doing that I could not just switch to "D" on the remote directly to control the receiver? What is the steps to let A,B,C, or D select-able to whatever device you want to control when you have one selected to be in the initial device mode ??
Great.
I think setup code lock was the source of the D problem as well. I turned it off everywhere in the file I posted. So you shouldn't have to bother with initial device mode. That's just the default after a reset or a download. You should be able to pick any device any time and control it.
Remote may not work properly while plugged in, so always unplug when you want to use it again.

Got home and loaded an upgrade for my panny TV and all worked like a champ...Will have some questions to come I'm sure once I get my extender (echo or something) and WMC and cable card all up and running but for now all is good and I'll be picking up a few more of the Inteset remotes soon for the other rooms...mdavej wrote:Great.

Was not sue if I should start a new thread with this question or not ?
But anyhow if a moderator needs to relocate it somewhere please do.
Is there a way to program 2 devices under the 1 button in control at the time rather then having to switch to a different mode say from A button for the TV to B Button for the Ceton Echo box ?
The reason I ask is there are plenty of free buttons to utilize on say button "A" mode to handle both the TV power and volume, maybe sleep timer and aspect ration if needed but thats about it ....Once the TV is on we mainly need to use the Echo for the rest of control and the wife seems to think its a PITA to have to switch to Mode "B" all the time and then back to mode "A" if she has to turn just the TV off or put on the sleep timer.....Yep the WAF is a tough one so far...

What I do is use B primarily and set volume lock to TV. That gives you all Echo functions and TV vol in mode B. Then on the keymove tab, assign additional TV functions as to any buttons you like on the B device (power, sleep, etc.). You could even assign TV power to Shift-Power. To execute TV power, just tap Setup then Power. That would toggle power on just the TV in Echo mode.
Eventually, you'll probably want to make macros to turn TV and Echo on/off together. Device keys are great for those. Then you can change device modes by tapping Setup followed by the device button. Pressing the device button by itself would run whatever macro you assigned to it.
Shifted functions are a little undocumented feature of JP1 remotes which essentially double the number of functions you can access per device. To assign one in RMIR, just add a keymove to Shift-(insert button name). To use it just tap Setup first. For example, assign a Subtitle function to Shift-Mute. Press Mute for the normal mute function, and press Setup then Mute for the Subtitle function.

Thanks Vicky, I'll do a little more reading up on keymoves...I think the WAF will increase dramatically soon enough...vickyg2003 wrote:I am not sure what is available on the newer remotes, bit on traditional jp1-jp1.3 remotes this is accomplished through keymoves. The keymove is associated with a setup code. It doesn't have to be the current setup code. This is needed for the HAF too

Thanks Dave , any specific software reason you use the "B" button rather then "A" or just a personal preference? Rather then assigning the TV power to a shift function under the "B" mode I would imagine assigning the shift function for the power of the echo can also be done on the "B" (Echo mode) and use the regular power (non shift) for the TV under "B" mode if I choose to just leave the echo powered up all the time ? Seems like it takes a bit to wait for the echo to power up and connect , don't see any harm in just letting it stay on and ready to go ?mdavej wrote:What I do is use B primarily and set volume lock to TV. Haven't had much time to physically mess with it lately but have time to investigate and read up some more lately

This JP1 stuff is starting to ROCK....took me about 3-5 minutes to program my first Keymove and verify it works....then went back to it and made a keymove for the sleep timer....WAF is definitely getting much better now with 1mode operation programmed nowmdavej wrote:What I do is use B primarily and set volume lock to TV.
