Remote codes for 2nd TV output on UEC DVR 3000

I have been battling to get a working remote bin for weeks now for the UEC DVR 3000, or as it is particularly branded in South Africa, the DSTV SD-PVR.

The closest I have now come is through Alan Richey's recommended PL bin for the Pace TDS865IMC, which gave me a fully functional TV1 remote. However, the Pace is a single HD machine with no second TV output and control, hence no TV2 remote bin was supplied.

Any advice on what I can use for operating remote 2 on my machine?

I just installed the UEC DVR 3000 on my Harmony Remote and checked the codes, and you are right, it is identical to the Pace box. But I don't see any suggestion of a second output. How do you select TV2 on your normal remote ? Is it not the TV button ? (Custom 10 on the Pace remote)

Hi - the remote has a rotating disc that cycles between TV1, TV2, X Y and Z. Basically every function of the remote is directable at any of the 5 devices. I never bothered with setting up devices X, Y and Z (which I suppose can be anything) but TV1 and TV2 were usually differentiated by rotating the disc to the appropriate slot...

The ability to have limited control over the actual tel vision set (volume, channel, on/off) was achieved via a separate TV button.

OK, see that now. The problem is that the Logitech Harmony IR Database only has the codes for TV1, so I have no way of figuring out the codes for TV2. It might be a simple tweak (I have just done a similar exercise for a Humax user who had the same issue and it was a one-byte change on the code) but we need to figure it out.

Can you find any remote that at least gives a reaction to your TV2, even if the function is wrong.

Do you have access to a Logitech Harmony 659, 650 or 'One' ? That is how we sorted the Humax user, he bought a used 650 off E-Bay.

There are a couple of things to try.

The remote in the link seems to be a uei remote with an offset 30. If you can blink back the setup code for tv2 perhaps we can look it up.

If that doesn't work, perhaps switching the outputs so tv1 is the sling box would solve the problem.

However, I picked up a post from a gent on a South African DSTV forum http://forum.dstv.com/showthread.php?t=2737&page=2 who claims to have compiled a set of bins for both TV1 and TV2 on the SD-PVR, which can be downloaded here. http://tivoza.nanfo.com/downloads/DSTV_ ... _codes.zip From the comments however, it seems very few people were actually able to get them working, Nevertheless, I believe one should be able to peek inside of his files to see whether it is simply a single bit which is set to differentiate between TV1 and TV2 of whether there are more complex differences. Unfortunately I do not have a hex editor here with me (I assume this is what is needed) that can reverse extract the codes from the bin file.

Yes, it is a simple change, the device goes from 71 to 72. it uses a totally different protocol from the Pace box, but that may not be relevant. I've applied the same change to the Pace BIN files and uploaded them here:

Hi all. I tried to port both V2011_xx.bin files to the Slingbox but sadly neither seem to work. I follow Alan's logic that changing the device type from 71 to 72 should do the trick if the logic from the supplied S2025 and S2026 files apply...

I suppose I can go the long way of building a Arduino setup to capture the remote codes directly off the remote but that will take time...I heard rumours that there is a Android Application that runs on a Samsung S4 that can capture raw IR transmits - Does not seem possible to me given the difference in oscillator frequencies...

Any takers?

The thread on the South African DSTV forum includes a link to the original Pronto Hex learns. The files with "New" in the filename are excellent and decode to XMP using IRScope or IrScrutinizer. However, the conversion of those learns into RMDU and bin files was done incorrectly. The Dreambox executor (an obsolete executor which sends the XMP IR protocol) allows one to enter invalid XMP signals, and that's what happened here. Since XMP has a lot of redundancy, I suppose that the bin files will partially work on some hardware.

TV1 is XMP 71.17
TV2 is XMP 72.18

Pronto Hex isn't capable of expressing Final Frames, so we can't tell from the Pronto Hex if the actual signal uses Final Frames or not, but I suppose that whatever the Pace box is using should also work here.

Al, would you mind making a TV2 bin file using 72.18?
