Is this remote supported at all?
The 6-pin says jp2.
I have the original jp1 parallel cable.
Can I latest RMIR with that cable and that remote?
I'm getting No Remotes Found! message :-(

Yes it is (thanks to 3FG):

It won't work with an old JP1 parallel cable, only JP1.3, similar to this:

Seems like someone posted about a similar cable they got from a US seller recently. You may want to search for that.

Note that this is a JP2 remote. Make sure that the cable you get is based on the FTDI chipset (like the one mdavej linked to) and not Prolific.

Here's one that doesn't require you to connect each wire individually: http://www.txsat.net/

Can JP2 cables be used with older JP1 remotes?

They can, only if you add one of these:

so I am able to download to this remote...
using the FTDI cable I got off ebay from china.
Although it gives a message: remote returns -1

the download does seem to take though.

pity there is not an extender for this remote;
the macros are so slow...
and I would like to sneak some more devices onto it...

It seems to be a sweet, modern remote.
does anybody else use a Charter C4000 (urc-1060bc2) with remotemaster?

I still use the older 1060BC1 in a couple of rooms (looks identical to the BC2 but is JP1.3). But I don't ask much of them, 4 devices and a half dozen macros is all I need in those rooms.

Somebody like Binky may be able to whip up a fast macro patch like he did for some other remotes like the RCRP05B.

But honestly, there are several better JP1 remotes that are very cheap on ebay. I'd just buy a better remote than live with the limitations of the 1060 if you need more functionality.

Actually I was incorrect, the download to my urc1060bc2 did not work.
The remote returned -1 message can't be ignored I guess.
This means I haven't had any success with my new ftdi cable yet.

What jp1 remotes do you recommend as "better on ebay" ?

On ebay, you can get any Atlas, most of which have extenders. Some are even backlit.

Elsewhere, you can get the RCA RCRP05B (or BR) which also has an extender, 8 devices and learning.
