Help with macro on URC-7781

Help with macro on URC-7781

Hi,

I'm having trouble with a new macro for my URC-7781 and I do not understand why it is not working as expected.
Especially since I recorded the signal output with IR scope and cannot see what's wrong.

Remote: URC-7781 with extender A2
IR v8.03
RM 2.02

I've got a macro programmed to KEY A which is working fine:
1. turn on TV
2. switch AMP input to TV
3. switch TV to input TV
4. set TV device on remote as the active device

IR scope recording:

The macro in question is programmed to KEY Shift-B and does not turn on the TV:
1. turn on TV
2. switch AMP input to TV
3. turn on Blu-Ray player
4. set TV input to HDMI-1
5. set Blu-Ray player as the active device

I do not understand why the second macro fails to turn on the TV even though IR scope shows the correct codes being transmitted.

And here for completeness my macros in IR:

I'm grateful for any hints why the Shift-B macro could fail. So far all my macros worked out of the box and I have no experience troubleshooting them...

flo, could you post the IR file or the RMIR file in the diagnosis area with a link in this thread.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Since the TV-Discrete ON is the first thing in both macros, I'm rather surprised that one works and the other doesn't.


One thing to check out is to make sure that you don't see any reactions from the TV on that Blu-Ray Discrete on. I wouldn't expect to see any reaction, since we have no records of TVs using NECx1 45.45.

Its not unusual for a TV to have to have a long push or take a long time to turn on. If neither macro was working reliably, I'd suggest forcing a couple of repeats in the TV's Nec signals to insure that it is not ignored. Samsung TV's typically do a full repeat of the signal to repeat.

Possibly the issue is Consumer Electronics Control (CEC), which attempts to control power on all HDMI connected devices based on commands to any one of the connected devices.

Some Samsung TVs refer to CEC as AnyNet+, or perhaps HDMI-CEC. Try disabling it.

Thank you both, indeed the CEC could be the reason! Until now I didn't have any CEC enabled HDMI players, so the LG BluRay player is the first one.
I'll try it on the weekend and let you know.

I try to take advantage of CEC rather than disable it. For example, before CEC, my bluray macro was several steps like yours. Now it is just a single step since all the power and input switching happens automatically.

I only disable it on systems where I have no control over the macros, like when I have to use harmony remotes, for example.
