I currently have the
USB JP1 cable delcom
Serial JP1.2/3 DiY (6 years old and the ribbon cable is separating)
I have purchased and ruined 3 of the USB JP1.2/3 cables to serve as a backup for my Serial JP1.2/3 cable. The USB versions just don't hold up to the number of uploads I do. Writing protocols and extenders has me doing a couple of hundred upload/downloads a week. The cables become really flaky and die within a couple of months.
I am in the process of ordering a new Win 7 64-bit computer, while I can still get one.
Am I correct in assuming that my JP1 delcom driver is not going to work on the Windows 7 64 bit computer?
Will the itty-bitty adapter, work with the serial JP1.2/3 cable?
Will the gasoline-priced cables work with the itty-bitty adapter?
With Tommy's supply problem, I am really nervous about not having a backup for my cables. I need to know how to proceed.
Interface ??

Re: Interface ??
I discovered a CP2102 based cable that should be a drop in replacement for Tommy's, but I am awaiting confirmation: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... 187#107187vickyg2003 wrote:I currently have the

This USB<->Serial cable talks 5v and 3v3 though - not RS232 levels, so you won't need either of the cables that you have.
.. and if thanks pan out, pretty soon, you will require just one device for all the variants we have right now.
BTW - replacing the IDC cables are pretty easy, as these variants don't need a complicated crimping tool.
I don't have a guide to help you do this yourself, but anyone who has built his own cables should be able to tell you how ... or you can ship the cables to me and I will replace them.
We think it works using the 64 bit WinUSB driver.Am I correct in assuming that my JP1 delcom driver is not going to work on the Windows 7 64 bit computer?
Rob is using one with 64 bit Windows, and aclinml says both he and a friend got it to work.
I have access to a 64 bit Win7 computer. Over the next week, I'll try installing to see if the instructions can be tightened up. I suspect that it is only necessary to have the .inf file, since the WinUSB drivers themselves are included in Win7.

Thank you all for the responses.
It is good to know I can get a windows 7 64 computer and still pursue this hobby.
BTW as a delcom connection tip, the Widget causes my remote not to be found in RMIR. I need to unplug the widget in order to see the remote.

Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.
