I'm finding the Nec2; Dev 234, Sub Dev 194 EFC codes I posted work fine with no protocol upgrade and no double OBC.

The new ROKU 2XS remote will not generate signals that a learning remote can read. These remotes also have limited capability as gaming remotes (i.e., they send information regarding their spacial orientation to the ROKU--which is something a Universal cannot duplicate)

Is there a setup code goes with the EFC's you posted?

no Upgrade Protocol needed, just a Device code.

This is for a 15-2117 as vcr-2000
Nec2; Dev 234; Sub Dev 194

Upgrade Code 0 = 17 DA (VCR/2010) keymap-master Device Upgrade (KM v9.22)
5A 00 AA 1E ED 21 A8 BC 00 01 2D B5 00 00 00 00
00 00 55 D3 CD E1 79 67 33 87 4B 3F 99 AB CD
End

I guess I should make a post in the File section

I found everything you mentioned except a search function, which may have a code that can be found, but isn't a separate function on the ROKU 2 remote.

Oh yeah sorry,
Misunderstood the question.

There is definitely no setup code for my rat shack 15-2117 that fires those signals.

thanks guys, just want make sure.

The search key on the ROKU 2 remote is the one with asterisk on it. In the roku on screen menu, it used have asterisk with SEARCH written next to it, but there was an upgrade that changed it to MENU.

That's the key I'm calling "options" in my EFC setup
EFC 201. As I recall it has the function of "search" depending on the context in which it's pushed.

You'll have to excuse my slowness. I used to be moderately active here. I have USED JP1 continuously for years, but every time I decide to do some new programming, It's almost like starting back at ground zero for the first week or so.

Did anyone ever figure out the Blue and Green buttons on the bottom of the Roku2XS remote?

I'm finally getting around to putting the IR stuff into my main family room remote and of course I have the bluetooth remote and can't learn what those buttons do.

Also, any more "discoveries" for "discrete" go to channel? (I love the Pandora and Netflix discoveries, would be great if I could get to Amazon that way as well!)

thx

Well the UR's won't learn the codes. Part of the problem with those two keys is figuring out what they do in theory, let alone in the real world. Near as I can tell they don't do anything. Even if I wanted to just stick in codes looking for them---I'd never know when I'd hit them.

From my reading around I've read that some providers let you program macros to them---which surprises me since I didn't think ROKU was tied to any ISP. Another post I read said they were key's 17 & 18...whatever that means.

So far the only IR commands known were available on a true Roku IR remote:

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5024/5672798764_5c178da540_o.png

Amazon was offered a chance to have dedicated key but turned it down.

I doubt there are IR commands matching the A & B keys. That probably goes for the headphone volume keys on the Roku 3 remote.

Time to search for that Amazon key:

http://www.amazon.com/Roku-Standard-Channel-Shortcut-Buttons/dp/B00G15AKKS/ref=sr_1_39?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1382386279&sr=1-39

Its supposedly works on older rokus, I will find out, since I ordered one from Roku, to teach my mx-780(x-7) remotes.

The newer remotes with Amazon key, won't work on older roku until they are upgraded in there near future. So don't search yet. Sad

Now I find out there's a roku remote with VUDU discrete key, its only on walmart rokus. it takes the place of the blockbuster key. The new commands are still not available using preset code CBL 2371. I will be getting a hold of the walmart vudu remote if I have to buy a new roku.

Has anyone determined the discrete codes for the Amazon and VUDU keys that they can share?
Thank you

I bought a new Roku 1 for my bedroom last week and it came with two new buttons (actually re-labeled)

Amazon EFC=00125
MGo EFC = 00066

I found that all of the buttons on this remote were off by 1 in the hex values from the previous Roku2XS that I have and have not tested these EFCs on the Roku2XS. But they do work on the new Roku 1
