I was wondering:

I loaded a downloaded upgrade wav in ir.exe (and used the 7560 RDF).

I can export wavs and so on.. everything seems to work but I don't understand how to edit/assign keys like bright- color+ color- (which are not assigned in the upgrade wav).

Clicking edit I can see the hex code represented in this screen, but even adding codes does not assign those keys but shifts them all up.

Another question:

Protocol 5a is NECx2.

Why is volume up defined as 1F when the discrete function code is 7 ?

I mean.. 1F works. But how can I translate from something like:

Device Code: 7.7 Function: 07

to

1F ?

Edit: I answer myself:

Thanks to anyone taking the time to answer.

P.S.
I know I can input pronto codes in the learned codes section.

I read that you are in Italy. Your English is perfect but I hope that my American English isn't going to be a problem.

You need another piece of software to do that. Keymapmaster (KM) and RemoteMaster (RM) will allow you to edit the keys in an upgrade. Some remotes are not covered by KM, don't know about this one.

That's an easy one. Nec is an LSB protocol, so for a function 7, 1110 0000 would be the transmitted part, since it is read backwards. Then the executor has the 1's and zeros reversed, so that becomes 0001 1111 or 1F.

I hope that helps.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Hi! No problem at all, I speak more english than italian Smile
About the self-answer, it just worked. I could configure some missing codes.

About the keymap, I need no editor.. I can think in hex without problems I was just wondering why if I add hex codes in the edit window, the program messes up.

I think the RDF is not complete or has some small bugs for URC 7560.

You are underestimating what the KeymapMaster and RemoteMaster do. Its not just a hex editor. KM and RM know the details of the protocol executors, and the remotes. Its not just a matter of knowing the hex for the function. Download remotemaster, that's the java based solution.

I believe you think the RDF is messed up, because tweaking the protocol without RM or KM is giving you problems.

It took me a while to find the link, but back in 2007 when I was asking questions, Rob made an excellent post on anatomy of an upgrade. Some upgrade format has changed a bit in the newer remotes, but this should give you an idea of what you are trying to do by hand.

About me, search youtube for my nickname (google is too messy).

Thanks averyone for the answers, I'll keep asing if needed Wink

Oh cool. Messing around with an expensive iPhone, is a lot scarier than dealing with a relatively inexpensive remote.

I find these remotes to be fascinating. I hope you will too.

Perhaps someday you can give me the courage to jailbreak my iPhone 4. I really would like to jailbreak it so I can do the mirroring for demonstration purposes.

Nice to meet you Zibri

Well.. with ZiPhone you didn't need any courage. But that was old stuff.
Comex hack for 4.3.3 was a great one and it was safe.
After that I don't know, I like to change and learn/do new things and at the moment I just have a first generation iPad.

Nice to meet you all.

I guess the "courage" for some people is the whole voiding the warranty thing, I remember back in 2000 or so some people not wanting to hack their ReplayTV units because in order to replace the hard drive you had to break the little "void the warranty" sticker.

But it great to have another superstar join our ranks, so welcome Zibri. And you're our second Italian superstar no less, as Nicola Salmoria (of MAME fame) used to hang out here too.

Nothing can really "void" a warranty. This practices are outlawed in most countries. TOS have no legal meaning too.

Oh! I never met Nicola, but obviously I know him for his great work Smile

Thanks for the warm welcome.
