Re: No.5: Read the Beginner's Guide
Re: 6 and 10: with an 8910 you most certainly DO have a learning remote.
Re: 7: There are at least 4 NAD upgrades in the file section. Have you tried ANY of them?
Re: 8: You found the template. If in that same post you had read the description of each field in the template, it describes what this is, and even provides a link to the RC forum.

Ooops.... it sounds like I'm getting heck. Embarassed

With respect to the 4 NAD upgrade files, I did find them, but have no idea what to do with them. Last time I tried to use the JP1, I messed up my remote, so I guess it's time to start over.

I was hoping that there was a way to upgrade the 6131n, as I only need it to control my office Sony mega-changer (which it does) and the NAD 705 (which it doesn't).

I've sent an e-mail to One-For-All support, but haven't heard back yet.

The 6131 doesn't come from the factory with a JP1 6 pin connector installed. It is possible for a user to install the connector, but frankly it is probably easier to look for a JP1 (that would be compatible with your cable) remote on eBay.

Ordinarily I would recommend that you just buy a new $20 remote, but these aren't compatible with your cable, and I don't see any which will support the IR protocol which probably is used in you NAD (NEC1 135.124).

So the easiest thing is to just use your 8910. Start by downloading and installing the latest versions of IR.exe and RemoteMaster. Then download from your 8910 and save a file of that downloaded configuration. I think it will be easiest if you read the stickies in the Beginners forum, and then ask questions about whatever is unclear.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll do that.

I guess what ticks me off most is that I just bought the 6131n and it mentions NAD on the external packaging. Of course, once I opened it and looked under Audio Receivers, NAD wasn't listed.

Mad

The 6131 has codes for NAD tvs. Do you know how to solder? If you were to add an EEPROM chip and a 6-pin to the 6131, you would be able to program it using the same JP1 cable that you use with the URC-8910.

It's probably not worth the effort. I haven't soldered in about 30 years, so I don't think I'd trust my skills. I'll either figure out how to use the JP1 with my 8910, or see if I can find another cheap remote that can handle the NAD 705.

In case you get to soldering the 6131 or figure out how to use the cable with the 8910, I found a match and recorded the IR signals with the JP1 tools to create the respective files.
