Jason,
Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention I was using Mandrake 9.2 and Cygwin. Neither one would compile. I downloaded a full package for Cygwin.

I'll try NetBSD and see what I get. I've tried RedHat, Mandrake 9.1 (now 9.2) and I was able to work w/ Mandrake easier.

NetBSD seems to have ...

Help w/ linux for Mosiac Remote

I'm trying to learn Linux and learn how to use JTAG at the same time to get into the Mosaic Remote to set it up like we do with JP1. Linux has a site that uses JTAG, but being a newbie to Linux I keep getting hung up when the code doesn't compile.

the site that has the JTAG code is:

My 2116 lights went out the other day. The inverter (transformer) is making a whining noise when I try and turn it on. I've replaced the batteries (the old ones tested good 1.3vdc). I've not opened it to see what is up yet.
My 1994 light works and the whine is higher frequency than the non ...

Need JTAG info to help get into remote

I'm trying to get into the the Mosaic remote and I found it has a JTAG hardware interface. I'm new to this interface and looking for someone who has experience with it. Any help would be appreciated.

I've found online some sites to build a parallel interface for JTAG. I'm learning from these sites ...

Tommy,

Nice Docs; I echo Marks comments on how clear and easy to follow they are.

Mike,
I later found there is an output that can be programed to indicate when the USB comunications are present. This output would drive a LED. I haven't tried this yet, but will soon.

Rob,
I'm not saying we can't write to it. I was just checking from what you said and I wanted to confirm. I got the idea you were just talking about reading. Handling both doen'st seem to be a problem. I just want to make sure of what is needed at the start. Its easier than changing things later ...

Rob,
If I'm right re: the J2 card edge connector then to get the flash you should not need to modify the Mosaic at all. Are you just wanting to read the flash??, or read and write it?

Rob,
I've looked at the information you put under Mosaic. I feel that one could interface to the remote using the J2 connector using the USB.

The J2 connector would need to be ohmed out so we could use it to connect to the remote.

Since the flash/ram is 512k , the download/upload time using ...

Rob,
From your pictures the remote already has a card edge connector - J2. An offhand guess is that this is used to access the flash memory at least. To access the flash the interface would be considerably more complicated than the JP1 interface for the I2C devices.

Mark,
Mark Pauker has been working on it for some days. So that is in the works. We are working on some changes to the schematic to gives us somethings to help us w/ diagnostics. Those few USB interfaces that are build will only have 1 wire to move for it to work w/ the new version. Also we are ...

Mark,
I've uploaded 0.07A to the jp1 files. I haven't heard back from Delcom, but I no longer use their DLL to handle the packets. Both my win98 & win2k systems work w/ this change. So give it a try and get back to me please.

Mark,
On my win98 system I was able to reproduce the "SendPacket = Read System Variables - Error". The difference is that version 0.03A doesn't use this as much as I do in version 0.05A and on. I only notice this error on a win98 system not my win2k system. I will need to contact Delcom to see what ...

Ok I put a USB in my win98 system. Guess what, it works also<arggggggg>. Both version 0.03A & 0.07A (somewhat updated 0.06A).
