Thanks Rob and Nils for the info. I cleaned up the approach a little, but the change that made everything work was to use a different device code for my VCR. I initially used device code 1062 as that seemed to give me the most inherent capability, but changing to 0162 and adding in the extra ...

Thanks Nils. I will give your approach a try. My approach was based on what I could follow of the approach outlined in a document concerning the extender for the 8810 by Greg. Of course, I may have misunderstood some of his steps. It does seem a bit convoluted, but it worked great on the 8810. By ...

I may have figured out how to provide links from the "stickie" info.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... 1basic.txt and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... 1extB8.txt

Hope that this is correct and helps.

6131ext

Thanks for the quick response. You are correct. the extra devices came into being when I used the manually created info in the 6131 as the basis for installing the extender. I have no idea why they were there as all I did was put in the device codes for my equipment. I have uploaded the non-extended ...

6131 Ext

What is the purpose of "AUD:2000-2003 and VCR/DVD:1614" devices and protocols listed under the Device tab in IR for the 6131 ext1? I deleted them as I could not see a need for extra devices, but can't get the extender to work correctly with a modified version of the setup, etc that worked great for ...

Me Too!! Finally got TOAD/TOG, LKP, PAUSE, etc. to work great for all my sytems with 6012x2.4 Ext and my 8011w. Could not get to work with x3.1, but I had so many other mistakes in my understanding and implimetation of the Extender capabilities that my case should not be considered the norm. JP1 and ...

8810W and 6012 4.2 Extender

Have my systems up and running with basic JP1 and doing well, but decided to try the Extender capabilities. I followed the instructions in the Install.txt document for the 6012 4.2 extender that appeared to be the one for my 8810, but could not get past the the 7th step where you double click on the ...

Hi Mark,

I did not try the full reset. Once I got the newer remote working, I took the old one back to Walmart and explained the problem to them so that they would not just put it back on the shelf. It may still be good, but I will never know. I am now deep into IR, KM, etc. and having fun. Once I ...

SUCCESS!!! It was the remote all the time. I obtained another 8810 and was able to connect on the first try. After many checks of the computer software and hardware, rebuilding the purchased JP1 cable as well as lots of hair and sleep loss. the reote interface turned out to be the problem. Exactly ...

I am completely out at sea on this one. I tried the remote and JP1 cable out on my daughter's system (Win 98, totally diferent set of equipment, etc.) after installing a fresh IR401 and received exactly the same results. Unable to to connect and get a response from the remote. I have checked ...

Hi John,

Just tried your suggestion and no joy. Thanks for the help. Iam going to try the interface on another computer with Win 98. If it works, I can rule out the remote being bad and start looking at serial or usb interfaces.

I have implimented all of your suggestions one by one with no improvement in my situation. Unless there is something else that I should try, I guess that I have a bad remote or else should try either the serial or USB version of JP1. Which would you recommend? Is the USB version tested and fully ...
