Liz, Thank you for the tip. I tried 20 hex for the pause protocol and it works some of the times. With shuch a long delay, I decided not to include swithcing to HDMI 1 as my power up sequence. It doesn't make sense to hold and aim the remote to the TV and DVD player for 2 or more seconds to power up ...

Panasonic TH-42PX60u with 8910 remote

For the DVD player, I want to

short press on the power button: turn on DVD player
long press on the power button: turn on TV (needs long signal duration), switch to discrete input HDMI 2, set VPT to TV, turn on DVD player.

To minimize macro ...

If you try assigning a bad code to a device button in IR and then load it into the remote, the remote's software detects the bad code and replaces it with the default setup code for that device button, which in this case is SAT/0392.

Therefore, you should try to determine what's wrong with the ...

What does "seems to go OK" mean? That's a very vague statement.

Sorry, I am a newbie. By "seems to go OK", I meant there is no error message of any kind.

How many blinks of the little simulated LED in the lower left hand corner of IR do you get? What does the display of the 8910 indicate during ...

newbie problem

Got a 8910 from this site and a home made JP1 cable. When I try to upgrade the sat device, the upload process seems to go OK. However, the Sat device code is always set to 392 no matter what I put in IR.exe .

I did make a cable with 10 position connector but it won't fit ...

I would recommend the URC-8910 as it lets you program macros to the device buttons even without using an extender. I sell these for $20 each, plus $4 shipping.

Another newbie question. The one you sell has the JP1 pins on them already and I don't need to do any mod/addition to the remote, right ...

What is the "best" JP1 remote?

I read the "FAQ: What is the best JP1 remote?" under JP1-General Forum but it was posted on 11/30/2003. Is there an update to it? If I want to buy one today, which should I go with? All I want to do is being able to power up one or more devices and have the TV select the proper input souce. For ...
