Problem getting IR 8.03 working

I have win 7 64 bit and IR 8.03. I added a parallel interface into my machine. I set compatability to XP sp3 and run as administrator. When I go into the interface menu the jp1 parallel is grayed out. I found a thread on this problem and it sounds like it is the 64 bit windows. I tried the windows ...

I know there is another forum that deals with this remote but thought I would try here first.

I am using the mx-3000 editor and am trying to put a background on the screen. I have resized my photo and saved as png and bmp. I can't seem to put my pic on the background. Probobly something stupid I ...

When I look at it now I can't believe that I couldn't figure that out. :)

Thanks captain. I saw your post and made the changes this morning. I just tried it a few minutes ago and all the ones I can try work. I assume they are all right.

That got me fixed up. I have the original remotes for ...

Ok, seems I have a no go here. None of the codes worked. So it seems to me I probobly messed something up.

I think I know where it is. In the pronto decode tool when you click decode hex a box pops up called DecodeIR DLL Results. The first weird thing is there are 2 protocol, 2 devices and 2 each ...

I found the tool that takes the hex codes from that page and converted them. I used this info in KM and made a new code. Hopefully I can go try it out tomorrow to make sure it works on the equipment.

Beverly Howard thanks for all of that info.

Beverly Howard where do you get the dongle? I haven't checked out your links yet.

Ok I spent the evening looking around trying to find anything for this ird8. The first place I went was remote central. I did several searches and came up empty. After persuing different avenues I finally did a ...

That is interesting Rob. I do have one. do I have to put some special setting on it?

I am sure it isn't working though. Like I said had the remote right in front of it and it just reported an error. When I used a remote to test it had success.

I have been away for a while and recieved an email just like above. Just came to see if anyone figured it out. I figured it to be some kind of spam/junkmail lifted from hifi-remote.

You aren't going to believe this. I bought all the stuff at a local surplus outlet. Spent time this weekend soldering it up. Got it finished last night. Well I can't wait to see if it works. I pull out my computer to plug it in and guess what. NO SERIAL Port. AAARRRRRRGGGHHH. I can't believe it.

I ...

I just wanted to be sure it would work with RM before I built it. None of the interfaces work with RM... they're used with IR to communicate with the remote. Of course, you knew this... just a little rusty!

Actually a lot rusty. But no I didn't know that. I guess I never read too ...

which interface?

Finally I upgraded my computer. Got me a nice Abit socket 939 motherboard. Well I say nice. I neglected to take into account my jp1 capabilities. This board doesn't have a parallel port on it. So in the mean time I am using my kids computer to hook to the remote.

Anyhow I figured I would just ...

I have spent quite some time on some forums specific to the tivo. It has been said the standby mode on tivo only shuts off the video output thus no power saving advantage to using it.

After learning this I haven't put mine in standby for more than a year. Hasn't caused me any problems. It is up to ...
