Thanks for the response 3FG. It has been a long time as I got my remotes working back then and am still using them! If a device was replaced I have just used IR.EXE to update the remote. As for RM and RMIR, WOW! Guess I have some studying to do! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. So my ...

Thanks, Tranx! :D I was kinda thinking getting a different remote was the way to go. Your suggestion of the Insignia 67100 is a good one (I like the looks and layout), but it the remote chart says it won't work with KM so I'm stuck there with my odd ball TV.

I started looking and found some 8810s ...

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I got a new TV for a game room and it looks like the remote codes don't exsit anywhere. Guess that means time for KM (been a while, but I think I'm still up to the task) :-). The only extra universal remote I have laying around unused is a 15-100. As good ...

Never mind, it just occurred to me that IR has a learning tab that will display what it learned and then I should be able to go into the km spreadsheet and create the file... I think some of this is coming back to me, I'll give it a shot in the morning.

Liz,

Thanks for the info, but I'm confused... I assume that I pick any DVD code and then learn all the buttons? Then what do I do to create an upgrade file?

Thanks,
Julie

How do I create a new upgrade file?

Ok guys,

It's been awhile since I've had to mess with my 15-2117's... I just moved into a new place and there is an AVIA DVD player and a Theater Innovations sound system that is part of my lease, but I cannot control them with the RS remotes. I looked through the list of upgrades (JP1-Upgrades.xls ...

15-2117 and Apex AD-5131 RF Extender Control Problems

Thanks for the response Herbie. I have tried moving the extender to distances greater than 3 ft. and greater than 6 ft., but still no luck controlling the DVD! BTW, normally when it is in a position to control all my equipment it sits about 3ft away and controls everything from the other room EXCEPT ...

15-2117 and Apex AD-5131 RF Extender Control Problems

Hello all,

About a year ago I posted a message regarding the inability of my RS remote to control my Apex DVD player. The great gurus of this board helped get my THEN 15-1995 working with the player from the remote itself. However, I was never able to control the device through the RF extender (the ...

What??? You haven't converted her over to the wonders of JP1 yet?
Unfortunately, that will never happen. Even my own brother thinks I'm crazy, let alone my girlfriend!

Julie, Julie, Julie... I'm surprised to hear you even took the remote out of your hand to begin with!
Please understand that ...

Jason,

We have success (well kinda)!!!

Ok, the scoop this time is:
Code #1 works via IR 100% of the time and via RF 0% of the time (not at all). Code #2 works via IR 100% of the time and via RF 90% of the time. Code #3 works via IR 100% of the time and via RF 99% of the time (which is good enough ...

Jason,

In the protocol ID box, I'm using 5A (from the first code post by Rob) is this still correct? If so I think something is wrong because I cannot control the DVD via IR with the command center unplugged (I tried all the variations you posted). Just for fun I tried taking my original remote and ...

Ok, here is more food for thought....

I tried all the different combinations regarding command centers and remotes. I do not seem to notice a difference between the command centers (1995, 2117s, 9910); however, I am testing at a distance of a foot between the command center and the remote. Thus ...

This brings up an interesting point, a couple of years ago, I came home and was attempting to use my remote and quickly realized that I was unable to control anything. I went into the room where the command center is located and noticed that the LED (the one that can be seen with the naked eye) was ...

Back to the "lighter side" for a moment:

I wrote:
Nils,

It should not be able to pick up both signals as I have the remote's IR xmitter completly covered. Even if I unplug the command center and try to learn from the remote (with the covered xmitter), it just times out. Thus that tells me I ...

Jim,

I know that the command centers are working because they control all of my other devices in the room with the DVD player (sat rcvr, VCR, etc). Also, the command center appears to have another LED with visible light (or same one with both IR and visible?) because when I press a button on the ...
