I just tried it with my Sony DSC-V1 using the nightframing feature which is IR based. Big white light on the front of the remote. By angling it I can see a series of white flashes from top to bottom on the LCD in sync with the pulsing which is apparent in the direct input but much more discernible ...

Maybe I did not explain it very well. The HK remote has a number of devices it is supposed to be able to control Of course it has a limited built in code base so of course it will not work with any semblance of a home theater.
The "device button to change it to the receiver" is AVR on the remote ...

Some remotes with RF extenders have ir emitters that you can paste on your devices which are addressable. Some such are in the Home Theater Master line of universal remotes. I don't know about the 15-2117 which is of course much less expensive and JP1 compatible, as are a couple models of the OFA ...

My 8811 gave me the same problem after working. It also gives me a pulled low error sometimes. It turns our the cable passes over the arched portion of the battery compartment and slightly tips the connector. Apparently enough to cause problems. I have to hold the JP1 cable onto the 8811 with a lot ...

Rob recommended the MX500 which is one of those remotes where you have to use manual button pushing for every step of the programming. For just a few dollars more you can get the MX700 which can be programmed with essentially the same program my mx850 uses. Download the MX700 programming software ...

The 8811 is a very nice JP1 style remote. The button layout is very good especially if like me you like macros. The m and l buttons are arranged across the bottom in two rows. I use those for macros. The set button is recessed and therefore out of the way and at the bottom. The navigation buttons ...
