Hi, I run diygadget.com ;-)

Regarding the instructions, I think I have to make it bold and probably an image moving around it :-) There is a link to the instructions In the description of the USB cable. Not sure why you have missed it :-)

I guess I was hoping of a some paper along with the ...

I've never seen one like that, but then maybe you're older than me
(unlikely!) :D

Now that I have thought about it a bit I think Prefix is the correct word.

It's always a good idea to test your EFCs before you go to the effort of assigning them to actual buttons.

To test an EFC, you simply press the SET button (don't hold it) and then type the 3-digit EFC. To simulate holding the button, you would press and hold the final digit.

I read that ...

Mitsubishi VS-414R discrete codes

I am looking for discrete codes for this rather old big-screen. In several places I've found Mitsubishi On=167 and Off=039. Yet, when I program these into my OFA 8811 (using the 9-9-4 sequence) the set does not respond. Should I conclude the set is just too old to have discrete codes?
Or, what am I ...

Yes, that works. Thanks!

I was trying to use a numeric key (1). I had read somewhere that 2 Sets were necessary to do the "shift" for a numeric key, so I was doing 2 Sets when trying to program it also.

I'm sure it is working because it issues the 2 blinks after the key is pressed. Only problem ...

Robjective,

I was unable to get the parallel cable to work on one of my computers,
although it worked fine on another one. I then ordered a fully assembled USB cable from www.diygadget.com. After downloading and installing the driver from

http://www.diygadget.com/jp1/download/JP1.zip

it worked ...

Shift keys

Should I be able to assign an advanced code to a "shift key" on my OFA 8811 remote without using KM and IR, i.e., by using the 994 sequence on the remote keypad? I tried, but can seem to get it to work.

TIA

Re: JP1 cable doesn't fit MX-500

I ordered and received a USB JP1 cable from one of the recommended sites. It has a 6 pin female connector. My MX-500 has 7 pins in the battery compartment, and the cable can't be attached without possibly breaking a piece off of the side of the cable's connector. Am I missing something stupid ...

What are phantom keys?

I can't find a definition of this term in either of the Beginner's Help
files. When some function is assigned to to @phantom2 in an Upgrade file in KM, what exactly does than mean? I.e., what key(s) do I use
on the target remote to execute the function?

Now that I have loaded the file I see that it seems to be for Sony CD players rather than my Sony STR D990 Rcvr/Amp.

What I am trying to do is load the Advanced Codes in
http://www.hifi-remote.com/codes2/amp_0158.shtml
into KM so I can add them to the 0158 Rcvr/Amp Setup from the
manufacturer's ...

Thanks, Capn. Should the 8.23 file Robman just uploaded be essentially the same thing?

For some reason, KM 8.35 can't load files that old anymore. I fired up KM 8.23 and it was able to load the file, so I re-saved it as an 8.23 file, which you should be able to open using KM 8.35:

Invalid KM file

The file at

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=532

seems to have a problem. When I try to Load it in KM 8.35 I get the message " Not a valid KM file". I'm sure it's a version problem, since
it says KM 5.06, but I don't know how to convert it to something I can use ...
