I tried this same approach (with a 15-2116) for my digital cable box, but eventually gave up after experiencing problems similar, but not identical, to yours. Also, I found after using it for a short while that there was a strong tendency to press the up/down arrow rapidly enough when scrolling ...

I have wanted a similar capability, and I had a couple questions about this approach.

1. Is the advanced select protocol available for the 15-2116, and will it work with extender2?

2. It seems to me the same effect could be achieved with toadtog - at least with the 2116 extender. Define a key to ...

Thanks for the suggestions. I know what two of these do.

131 (16:9) acts like a two press toggle on this TV. The first press brings up a menu to tell you which mode you are in (as if you couldn't tell already), and a second press changes it. This would be the basis of a toadtog discrete.

167 (Wide ...

Discrete Aspect Ratio for TV 0053 (JVC AV32F703)

Since it isn't listed in the advanced code file, I suspect the answer is no, but has anyone found discrete codes for 16:9 / 3:2 on a JVC AV32F703? The file has discrete codes for on, off and inputs (thank you!), but not for aspect ratio. I could build a toadtog for this, but it is VERY likely to get ...

Actually, I am having no problems getting a second press in, even with the time set to 1. That part is working great. My problem is that the single key press is often used several times in a row when scrolling through the channel guide, on demand lists, etc., and these separate "single" presses are ...

15-2116ex2 False DKP

In an effort to simplify use of my cable box (SA explorer 2200), I put DKPs on the up and down arrows, such that a single or held press sends the normal up/down, and the double press sends page up/down. The double press for paging works ... too well. I have the threshold time values set to 1, which ...

I was intending to eventually use the extender, so thats good to know. I now understand the "no direct entry of efc" in the externder readme. I was assuming that you couldn't do a direct Keymove of an efc. Does that mean this capability does exist with the extender? (Not that you'd really need it ...

So to test an efc, I don't have to keymove it to a button? I just press P ### ? That certainly makes testing codes a lot easier.

Thanks,
Ray

[quote="unless you want to use one of the number buttons. In that case, you need to press P twice, and then the desired number.[/quote]

That explains it! I was testing the new codes on shift 1, shift 2, etc, thus the need for the double P press. I did a search in this forum and on remote central ...

Using RS 15-2116 shift button

Hello,
I just picked up a 15-2116 remote yesterday, so needless to say, I an a newbie. I've got the parts to build a cable this weekend , but in the meantime I have been testing some of the advanced codes for discrete on, etc that I found over at remote central by manually doing keymoves. Since the ...

Ah, back to the good old days, when a programmer was handed a memory budget of a few bytes. I knew a compiled language was not applicable - just wishful thinking. As an aero engineer, I've never had a reason to work with assembly, other than to analyze some disassembled compiled code. Do you folks ...

Hello again,
Thanks for the responses. I've always been one to jump right into the deep end with something like this! I've been writing parsers and user interfaces for engineering research software for about 15 years, and my approach has always been to figure out what I want first, then find out if ...

Context switching buttons?

Hello,
Great site! I've been lurking for a while, and plan to buy a 15-2116 to play with in the near future. In the meantime, I've been reading a lot, collecting information, and developing my initial "plan of attack". I found a device file on the Yahoo site that matches my VCR (JVC setup 0067 ...
