Yeah, when they popped up on the grid at that super-discounted price, this forum got wind of them very quickly, and they were sold out within (I'd estimate) about 2 weeks. And btw, the HT Pro is identical to the 9910- except for color scheme.

(and I'm really enjoying MY two HT Pros :twisted ...

As for your earlier SLEEP questions, you can indeed program a macro to activate the sleep function. Normal macros are limited to 15 steps, which might be an issue in your case if you try to combine all of the sleep functions into one macro, but if you were to use an extender you would be able to ...

If you are looking for a cheaper URC-8910, Bluedo have them online for $22.95.

I've already been to bluedo and the URC-9910 and Jp1 cable is only $37 at bluedo. I'm going to get the URC-8910 at bestbuy and see if I like the feel of the remote before I order anything online. Of course if I buy the ...

Maybe I misunderstood you.

Some sleep functions are built into the device. The remote just sends an ordinary command to initiate and/or adjust the sleep operation. The extender doesn't make that harder, it might even make it easier.

Some sleep functions are built into the remote. The remote sends ...

Getting the sleep timer to work in an extender is a pain and almost no one seems to want it.

I've never put that in an extender. I doubt anyone else has. But I'm not certain no one else has.

On my Receiver Sleep Function has a discrete button on the remote, pressing it once activates sleep mode ...

Sleep and Extenders

Does the sleep timer on any of the remotes work in extender mode? Because my DVD Player doesn't have one, as well as the fact that I'm not sure it's possible to sync a sleep button for the receiver and the TV.

There's only so much that we can cover in these forums. Here, the sole focus of our attention are UEI remotes. It would be up to some other use group to try attacking the Harmony.

True. I found a thread here: http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-harmony/thread.cgi?2412 that talks about ...

Why no development of software for other remotes w/pc intrfc

For example, right now the only way to configure a harmony remote is by using the online software which is great for simplicity, but bad for power-users. The harmonies have 2MB of flash memory vs. 2k on the jp1 remotes, imagine the kind of crazy macros you could create. I'm sure there are many other ...

You can get the URC-8910 much cheaper than that on ebay. The 15-2116 is discontinued, so you'll only be able to pick one up used.

I would like to try the remote out to make sure I like the feel of the remote, if not I'll have to try a different jp1 model. I can download learned IR functions using ...

I'll go pick up one at Best Buy and make sure it can do what I want.
Pick what up? If you mean that you're going to pick up a URC-6131 remote from Best Buy, you should be aware that the store bought version of this remote is NOT JP1 ready. To use this remote with JP1 you woulf first need to solder ...

More devices are supported by the built-in setup codes than by JP1 upgrades.

The fact that you found upgrades for some of your devices doesn't mean upgrades are needed even for those devices. Someone may have just wanted to customize the key layout and decided an upgrade was better than using ...

I'm sure the number of JP1 users is such a small fraction of their business that they're neither very happy that someone buys a JP1 remote rather than some other brand of more expensive remote, nor very unhappy that someone buys a JP1 remote rather than one of their more expensive models.

I expect ...

Why don't one for all and radioshack like the jp1 mod?

You would think they would be happy because the jp1 mod greatly boosts the usefulness of their remotes, but obviously this isn't the case. Is it because they are afraid no one would buy their expensive models if they knew about jp1?

Thanks,
-Jonathan.

To answer each of those questions, you should visit the file section and see if there are upgrade files present for these devices (or at least, similar models). Assuming there are upgrades files available, the lack of learning and/or original remotes is not an issue. You can also open the upgrade ...

I am not sure yet that I can do without learning capability, so I might have to spring for the URC-8910 even though I like the layout of the 6131 better. A couple of compatibility questions:

I have lost the original remotes for the GE 27GT617 TV and Sony VRL4270HF VCR, is that a problem in terms of ...
