Thanks for all your help. And in case others get stuck on this, here's one more point that I probably should have realized but didn't when I moved to an all RMIR world: when you import device upgrades and save your .rmir file, that file contains all the info you need for your upgrades (RMIR never ...

Once you start with an RMIR file, you should keep working from that RMIR file. You shouldn't be downloading from the remote. The RMIR file has all your unassigned functions, and descriptive function names. None of that is stored in the remote. The remote only has the information shown in the RAW ...

I guess if you have simply downloaded from a remote and you are in RMIR and want to edit an existing device you need to click edit (to open the upgrade editor) and then go through the extra step of opening the appropriate rmdu file? And once you save it the description in the editor points to the ...

editing device upgrades in RMIR - where did the layout go?

Sorry, I must be missing something obvious. I had originally programmed an rs2116 (with extender2) via KM and IR.exe and it works fine.

I downloaded that remote via RMIR and saved that image. When I upload via RMIR everything continues to work fine.

Here's where it gets strange. When I open the ...

I can confirm this as well. Even though I am using 2.02a:

- The about screen in RM incorrectly reports version 2.02 Beta 1.5w and the check updates feature in RM warns that I am on 2.02 Beta 1.5w and that a more recent version (2.02a) is available.

- The about screen in RMIR correctly reports ...

If you have a fairly recent computer that is capable of virtualization, one solution is to create a virtual machine and install what you need in that machine. It can run "inside" your current, physical machine and JAVA will not be installed in it. Investigate VirtualBox.
Thanks, great idea ...

any advantage to using RMIR versus IR.exe?

I can see why people prefer Remote Master to Key Master (the extra features RM offers are nice), but is there any reason why one should prefer RMIR to IR.exe? They seem pretty similar and if they really are the same I'd just as soon not spend the time getting used to RMIR since I already know my way ...

Thanks, Vicki. I was trying to avoid Rm since I preferred for security reasons to avoid enabling java on my pc. Maybe i'll look into enabling java just for Rm rather than generally.

selelcting urc7950 in keymap-master?

How do I select urc7950 in keymap-master (version 9.22)? The urc7950 has an rdf for ir.exe so I figured that it must be defined in keymap-master. What am I missing?

Thanks.

Thanks (and sorry I didn't answer earlier). I don't have it working yet but the diygadget support people asked me to return the cable so they can send me another (I guess they think that maybe the cable is defective). Once that arrives, I'll let you know if it works.

Btw, the diygadget support ...

Sorry, I'm not at home. Will post later if I need to. But I did just read an extremely helpful extender2 tutorial (here: www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=download&file_id=1420 ) that makes it clear that each my system xyz definition in the general tab is just the definition the remote ...

Actually, just thinking about this some more and wondering: how do those 'my system' definitions operate in the face of set_xyz commands? I have two basic macros for turning things on (one for when I watch tivo and the other for when I watch DVD), and at the end of each of those macros I set the ...
