Looks like this was all figured out several weeks ago. Thanks for the references.

I'll post back after I use it for a while.

First impressions:

I like the idea of single button control vs. the X10 method of device selection and then on/off. I also like the light toggle instead of dedicated on and ...

Aganst all sanity, I found an IR light dimmer at Home Depot mfg by Commercial Electric of Atlanta GA. Model #724-398. It was only $20, so I went for it as a trial.

The remote has 2 buttons and the switch has a selector for button 1 and 2 (so you can have 2 switches within IR range)

I captured the ...

With your setup, I would just get the IR543's for each room that will take your IR commands from your remotes and convert them to X10 commands on the power line. You would need one IR543 for each room you want to be able to point the remote at to control it.

You can find the IR543's HERE about ...

Controllable light switches for several rooms

Now that everything else is working well, I want to be able to turn the lights off and on in several rooms via remote control (mostly 8810W)

I found this: http://www.smarthome.com/2035.html but then I wondered if an X10 ir converter and X10 light switches wouldn't be just as easy.

Anyone have ...

Hmm. I'm using NiMH in mine and it fails w/o the 2 NOPs. Even if they are fully charged, they will still only be at 1.2x4 or 4.8V and alkalines would be at 1.5x4 or 6V. I'm wondering if it isn't a different rev of the chip or slightly different circuit in the remote.

s3c8 disassembler

Is there a disassembler around for s3c8 code? I did a few searches and can't find anything. I know the protocol tab in IR will do it, but I was looking for something more standalone.

After a week with the family, the led is back to it's original position. Apparently there is some magic force that attracts the led end to the floor when the remote is dropped. Either that, or the 2 year old decided to push it back on her own.

Still works, so I'll look into something besides the ...

I just took one of my 8810w remotes apart and pushed the led out as far as possible. It will go out a good 1/8 to 1/4 inch beyond the housing.

Now it controls everything no matter which way it is pointed. Could be a hazzard getting the led snagged on something, though.

I believe the entire problem ...

That did it. Thanks.

Is there some guidelines on what you are looking for in the uploads? I'll have several things to contribute as soon as I type a few more comments in. I'm trying to document in the appropriate places for my own sanity if nothing else.

For instance, do you care what the Device ...

8810w

Yes, I could do it in the extender. I'd like the option to use the extender or not for base functionality. Not that a portable DVD player necessarily counts as my base functionality. I'm just progressing thru my inventory looking to solve problems with everything I have as I go.

I'm hoping I ...

Apex PD-10

Not sure this is a code search issue, but I thought I'd start here.

I have an Apex PD-10 Portable DVD player.

The arrow keys are accessed via a Shift code that puts the player into shift mode (It says SHIFT ON on the screen) and then 3, 6, 8, and +10 are the up left right and down functions. Enter ...

It is not a problem. Now that I know, I'll probably put something on the remaining key(s). As many other warnings as KeymapMaster has, I thought it odd that it never said anything about the key not having a definition. Weirdly, it seems to count the unused but necessary keys in the count of used ...

KeymapMaster 7.58 putting EFC 000 on mute key

Anyone else notice that the mute key is given EFC 000 even when it is supposed to be unmapped according to the Buttons worksheet?

Is this a bug in keymap master, or a restriction in the device? (I am assigning functions to vol+ and vol-) It could be as simple as all 3 V functions must be mapped at ...

There are 3 nops after stop and idle in the examples in the programming guide. however when it comes to explainig why, they don't.

I figured if it was good enough for 2.4. it was good enough for 3.1

anyway, some ucontrollers do advance to pc when going into hibernation. however they also clearly ...

Just to add to the confusion, I've been playing around with the 3.1 extender on a 8810w I just bought. Strangely, it locked up the first 3 times I loaded the extender. Then it looked like it was working. It did control some devices. However when I tried to reload it into IR, it wasn't correct at all ...
