Looks like this was all figured out several weeks ago. Thanks for the references.
I'll post back after I use it for a while.
First impressions:
I like the idea of single button control vs. the X10 method of device selection and then on/off. I also like the light toggle instead of dedicated on and ...

Controllable light switches for several rooms
Now that everything else is working well, I want to be able to turn the lights off and on in several rooms via remote control (mostly 8810W)
I found this: http://www.smarthome.com/2035.html but then I wondered if an X10 ir converter and X10 light switches wouldn't be just as easy.
Anyone have ...

s3c8 disassembler
Is there a disassembler around for s3c8 code? I did a few searches and can't find anything. I know the protocol tab in IR will do it, but I was looking for something more standalone.

I just took one of my 8810w remotes apart and pushed the led out as far as possible. It will go out a good 1/8 to 1/4 inch beyond the housing.
Now it controls everything no matter which way it is pointed. Could be a hazzard getting the led snagged on something, though.

Yes, I could do it in the extender. I'd like the option to use the extender or not for base functionality. Not that a portable DVD player necessarily counts as my base functionality. I'm just progressing thru my inventory looking to solve problems with everything I have as I go.

Apex PD-10
Not sure this is a code search issue, but I thought I'd start here.
I have an Apex PD-10 Portable DVD player.
The arrow keys are accessed via a Shift code that puts the player into shift mode (It says SHIFT ON on the screen) and then 3, 6, 8, and +10 are the up left right and down functions. Enter ...

It is not a problem. Now that I know, I'll probably put something on the remaining key(s). As many other warnings as KeymapMaster has, I thought it odd that it never said anything about the key not having a definition. Weirdly, it seems to count the unused but necessary keys in the count of used ...

KeymapMaster 7.58 putting EFC 000 on mute key
Anyone else notice that the mute key is given EFC 000 even when it is supposed to be unmapped according to the Buttons worksheet?
Is this a bug in keymap master, or a restriction in the device? (I am assigning functions to vol+ and vol-) It could be as simple as all 3 V functions must be mapped at ...

Just to add to the confusion, I've been playing around with the 3.1 extender on a 8810w I just bought. Strangely, it locked up the first 3 times I loaded the extender. Then it looked like it was working. It did control some devices. However when I tried to reload it into IR, it wasn't correct at all ...
