soldering

When I solder, I file the tip to the size of whatever it is I want to solder. For something small I file it into a small wedge and tin it..same for other projects..I just file and tin to suit my needs. Tips are cheap and I have not really gone through one yet.

Codes..

As has been stated her, try 0775. I would bet it will work for you.
To get it into IR you have several options. I have Dishnet and use the older DVHS box. It works for me fine however I had to learn a few commands and also used keymover to move a few to my liking. Remote is a OFA Kameleon 8 (URC ...

Problem Found and Solved! (Finally)

You were right on the money Johnsfine. I opened the Parallel Port hood and discovered the YELLOW wire was broken away from the ic board! No Reset Signal! I found where it broke from(next to the blue wire and also soldered to a leg of the IC leg) and resoldered it. It works like a charm now! No more ...

To: THEROBMAN

I know you know alot about the Kameleon. While entering Setup Codes(SetupButton_Code) I accidently entered code 997. This code put the kameleon to sleep and awoke about 25 seconds later in setup mode. I thought I entered some discrete OFA code and killed it but it came back to life.

Sounds Good

Thanks for the info Johnsfine. I am going to troubleshoot the cable and make sure its soldered correctly and do a voltage check on it. I am using a laptop computer and this is why I purchased an Ultra JP1 cable not to have voltage problems but then again, as you mentioned, the problem might be ...

Thanks....

Thanks for the info The Robman. I don't see a reference in my kameleon manual for cod 981 but it did reset it. You won't beleive this BUT I still have the same problem. It seems my uploads are not getting activated in the EEPROM as you mentioned. I found a workaround. After I do the upload if I ...

weirdness

Now this is getting really weird. Even though IR shows my Sat/Cbl code as 0775, when I manually read the code from the kameleon its showing 0392.

More Info

Upon further investigation it seems my problem might be elsewhere. Here's what I did. I downloaded the factory default setting. Next I changed the Device Button for CBL(SAT/CBL) from 0392 to 0775(my code for dishnet).
Then I Upload the information into the Kameleon. Next I closed IR, and restarted ...

Cannot Upload to kameleon 8 JP1/IR

Hello All,

Newbie here to JP1. I am using a Kameleon 8, a Hovis Ultra JP1 cable/pogo and the software IR_v321b. Here is my problem. I am unable to upload to the kameleon. In experimenting I added some codes(manually) to my kameleon and saved it in a file using IR. Then I reset my kameleon to ...

Laptops

Why is it that laptops require the 1N5818 diode and resistors for the JP1 Cable?
