Re: RCU810 - Buy one for under $10

Might want to remind peple that they will have to solder in the JP1 connector when they get it.

Problems with Echostar Protocol replacing Dishplayer (Old)

Went to tweak a few things in my 1994 for an Echostar PVR-508.

I have just upgraded from KM 8.18 to 8.31. What used to be Dishplayer (Old), has become Echostar (both protocols are ID 02).

Unit is set to 3 and device is 0 for both. I'm on OBC mode.

Well, the upgrade from KM 8.31 is very different ...

I'm starting to like the upgraded 6131 more and more (it would be great km/ir could support it's keymoves).
KM does support key moves for the 6131, but only for 1-byte commands at this time. The 6131 extender allows the use of "normal" key moves like all the other JP1 remotes.

Thanks, that's ...

Thanks - these look great !!!

6131: It might make more sense to have the pip keys as your originally placed them (since they don't work where they currently are). I could update my version to include your primary device, then a 2nd device and instructions on how to move the pip keys to the proper ...

The missing key is a device 0, so I should be ok.

I assume the unit code work for selecting different remote codes? That would make this the easiest to use multi-device DishNetwork upgrade (for the remotes that support it). I'm starting to like the upgraded 6131 more and more (it would be great km ...

Rob,
I gave it a try and it seems to work fine. I couldn't hit all the keys because I'm recording right now.

For the 921 I need the TV/Video Key (HD/SD). Can I just add the EFC? I don't see anything that assigns the EFC's to which device.

I can learn the code into a 1994 if needed (or you can get ...

I just tried the mini-combiner on the 6131 - works like a champ.
THANKS Jon A.
Cleaner then the device combiner as long as everyone can get the unit codes they are looking for.

So, should I remove my upload using the device combiner, or is it good to leave it as an example of "another way" (it ...

Rob,

I tried your upgrade - no go - key seem to be scrambled around.

I then tried substituting the OBCs. That got the Device 0 working, but the Device 1 (16) still didn't. They triggered the box, but not the right functions.

Ok, I see (but then much of johnsfine (expert) is over by head.

Rob - It may not be important, but your upgrade is missing the TV/VCR key. One the 721 this button selects a pass-thru select for the coax-in to coax-out). Most probably don't use this.

On the 921 this button becomes HD/SD select ...

Even on the 6131, I'm nowhere near running out of memory - so a few bytes here or there....

I really like having keys where they belong when ever possible. As such, I'm good to keymove in the pip keys.

Guess the problem is that if the keymove needs to be done at the remote, the keys must be ...

Rob,
I'm not sure it matters, but your EFC codes don't seem to match what I would expect.....

Again, I can try it with my 6131 (from you) when I get home.

Rob,

I can try your 6131 upgrade with my 921 tonight. I'm pretty sure the 721 and 921 are the same.

I assume you still need to keymove in the PIP keys at the remote?

EDIT:
Wow, the light bulb is turining on. So protocol 002 is not the same on all the remotes? They don't all support the dual ...

David I just posted a device and protocol upgrade using a Protocol created in PB, that is a mini combiner.

I also made my mini combiner do unit code 0 (system address 1) or unit code 1(system address 2), so depending on EFC you an do commands from device 0 or 16 for either system address. You can ...

Wow, that sounds great - I'll take a look.

I may not get to it today though.
Sounds like this will be a good replacement for all the others.

Does Remote Master address this KM Master limitation? Does it support device combiner?

I'm probably ok, I've got what I need right now. I'm pretty active in some of the Echostar DBS forums and questions about universal remotes and JP1 frequently come up.

I like to help where I can. The 721/921 got ...
