Understood, and thanks for the quick response.

I tried to fire up my old XP laptop to handle it, but the display is toast.

It irritates me that the Windows developers feel we are too stupid to make changes to our own systems.

Just trying to get my JP1 EEPROM interface up and running on a Windows 8 machine.

Every time I try to install the 64 bit WINusb driver for the USB IO controller, I get this error message:

"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.

Windows found driver software ...

Okay, thanks. Doesn't matter anyway...I think I've decided to return the 6131n I bought and buy one of the modded models that Rob sells (it will save me a lot of hassle). Plus I might pick up another 8910 for myself. JP1 is just so much fun. :D

Sorry, Rob. I ran a search for this topic, but apparently my search-fu is lacking cause I didn't find the thread you directed me to. You're the man!

Looks like I should have come to you for a remote. It's been quite a while since I've been to the site cause things have been running well for me and ...

Rob,
How do you get OFA to upgrade a remote? I just bought a 6131n for my parents and I'd like to get the upgrade so I can program it. I would have bought them an 8910 (like I have) but it's a bit complicated for them.

Well, I tried the extender, but I didn't have much luck. It made the remote do all kinds of crazy things. I'll experiment some more, but you were right...I just went right back to a working configuration with no problem.

Well, this problem persists even with the interface (and even the remote) connected. I haven't had a problem uploading and downloading from my remote, but if I close IR and try to restart it, I get the error message. The only solution seems to be to restart the PC which always solves the problem.

Then I think I have everything I'll need. I might as well give it a go! That's what JP1 is all about anyhow, right, making our remotes do what we want them to do?

Thank you very much!

I was reading about extenders the other night, and I d/led the 8910 extender and was reading the files that came with it. However, I'm still very new at this and I'm not quite sure if I want to use the extender yet. I'm not afraid to admit it seems a bit scary to install the ...

Can Comm/Skip button be programmed on URC8910?

I installed the upgrade for ReplayTV (hacked) to my URC8910 and mapped out the buttons using RM. I wanted to place the commercial advance function on the comm/skip button and that's where I placed it. When I loaded the upgrade and protocols into IR, it showed the keymove for the comm/skip button ...

I'm using IR ver. 6 and I WILL BE using a Hovis standard cable.

You see, I'm still awaiting the arrival of my cable. I've been learning IR by simply starting the program and navigating around (no uploading or downloading because I have no interface yet). Could it be that IR doesn't detect any ...
