Mike England makes a good point. Many people around here a little biased toward jp1 (that is the name of this playground, after all ;). When I got into the JP1 scene, I got the 8811-jp1 & the MX500 package for about $130 at remotecentral and I love them both. The MX500 has a bulk and strength feel ...

Thanks for the info Greg (and for RM & the How-to for it). I made the assumption that since the files were here on hifi, most people could find them quickly enough without the link. It's gonna take a while for me to get the hang of how high-tech / lowest common denominator I need to be for quick ...

New RM files for Samsung TXN3075 & Hughes TIVO

Clue-less newbie Q (again) :P
I noticed that there were notes left on the Yahoo site when new files were added. Is it expected for the hifi-remote files section?
After all, as a newbie contributor, I'm rather pleased with myself for doing all that research and riding on the shoulders of _everyone ...

I just got mine, too, Vedorfer. I was having the same problem with an 8811 an both my PC and the laptop. I kept geting a message about "no response from device". After doing a little searching for related problems in the forums, I tried taking out one, then all the batteries. Ta-Daa! Apparently, the ...

Thanks ElizabethD. I just saw it this morning in the KM files. Don't know how I missed it earlier.
I'll try to hook up jp1 soon and make one for the RM files.

Thanks for the quick reply. I agree! Both the 8811 and the MX500 are great remotes. But these are my first super-dooper remotes, and they are basically toys (translation: a convenience, not a need).
I suppose 1a. wasn't worded quite right. What I'm hoping to end with is the MX 500 being able to make ...

How to play with my new toys

Okay, I've got my 8811, my JP1 cable, IR.exe, RM.exe, and my (impressive) MX-500. Since I haven't seen it actually written out, is this basically the correct procedure?
1. Find the files for my equipment in the yahoo files.
1a. Or teach the 8811 my old remotes.
2. Edit that to my liking in RM, add ...

I bought the NexxTech sysem at Circuit City a couple of weeks ago, and have been searching for the codes, too. What I've found is that the DVD player (a Sony, I think) is new to the market and nobody's got the codes yet.
Once I get my 8811 & the JP1 thing figered out (just bought that, too), I'll ...
