I also have a Kameleon where the backlight stopped working after (I suspect) being dropped. When dismantled, the small round disc about 10mm in diameter was broken away on one side and the copper wire was broken. I pulled some extra wire out and resoldered it to the circuit board. Then I used hot ...

Thanks for the feeedback, guys.
This is the first time I've tried to control two devices of the same brand and the possible problems didn't occur to me.
DVD recorders in my price range don't have the features that I would want, so I'll hunt around for another cheap VCR of a different brand. I'll ...

I have a JVC XV-N33 DVD player and have done a manual code search for unused OBCs. There doesn't appear to be discrete power codes for this series player. I am also using the workaround that Rob described.

Multiple Akai VCRs

Hi all,
I have two Akai VCRs, a VS-G735 and a VS-G2100EA. The 735 appears to use the NEC1 protocol with device 137 and sub-device 119 (I say appears because I don't have the original remote). The 2100 uses the NEC2 protocol with the same device and sub-device. The problem, as you've probably already ...

I don't think it's any different setting up a macro when you're using an extender than when you're not.
My DVD button macro works like this.
In the macro tab in IR, click add.
For the Bound Key, select DVD.
Select TV from the available keys and click add.
Select 1 and click add (This turns TV on and ...

I've found the same problem with my Pioneer Home Theatre Amp. I need to change the signal select from digital to analog when I'm changing from my DVD player to one of my VCRs. I have four possible settings. My DVD Select macro sends the signal select command twice to change from AUTO (digital for ...

1. Try looking at this http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files/Miscellaneous/RemoteChart.htm
It shows a list of all the JP1 capable remotes. As for a function list, I don't think I've ever seen one here in the years I've been accessing. You could try this http://www.hifi-remote.com/wasser/ofa ...

The only place I've been able to find decent free manual downloads is http://www.eserviceinfo.com/
This place http://www.hcsd.com.au/index.html has good manuals, but they're not free and they only send them by mail.
You could also try http://www.user-service-manuals.com

Don't forget to upload the device upgrade you created for your surround sound unit and post a link here for others who come along.

My HT Pro remote can have macros placed directly on the device keys without an extender which I use to turn the appropriate devices on and select the right input on my home theatre amp. I've also got a macro on the power button to turn all the devices off when I'm done. I believe there are other ...

If the driver unit you're talking about is a circular black thing about 10mm across with copper wire wound around it, you are right. It's labelled L2 (under the original hot glue) and had been knocked out of position. One of the copper wires was broken where it connects to the board. After some very ...

I'm sure there are plenty of beginners who are confused about posting links to files.
The only way I know of to post a link is to open the file section in a new browser window, right click on the download button, select "copy link location" and paste it in the original post in the ...

Thanks, I'd forgotten there was a brightness adjustment.
Unfortunately, it doesn't help. I can't even hear the faint buzzing you normally hear when the backlight is on.
