Thanks for the detailed and straightforward reply. Makes sense to me.

This is the part that didn't make sense to me until your reply (I couldn't guess why this wasn't automatically handled in the program):

Alternate PIDs were invented to avoid the need to edit the RDF and also to allow both to be ...

Protocol ID conflicts with a built-in protocol. Explanation?

Hi - Doing some work that has me using the NEC 4DEV Yamaha Combo protocol.

I get this message at the bottom of the Device Upgrade Editor:

"Protocol ID conflicts with a built-in protocol. To use both this and the built-in protocol in device upgrades, this one needs to be given an Alternate PID ...

As for your ongoing problem, could you please zip the 2 files together (ie, the 15-2116 and 15-2117 files) and post them here, so we can look for any anomality's. Also, have you tried doing a full reset on the 2117 to see if that helps it accept the 2116 file?

Sorry for the delayed response ...

The 2116 and 2117 are *exactly* the same remote from a JP1 perspective, the only difference is that the 2117 has an RF chip onboard. So all you need to do is, download the memory from the 2116 using RMIR and then re-load it into the 2117.

Hi Rob - I had posted this issue nearly a year ago with no ...

They are identical as far as RMIR is concerned.

Did you download from the 2116, save, then upload to the 2117?

Not sure if this will help, but have you tried resetting the 2117 before uploading? Using fresh batteries?

Sorry for the delayed response, been trying a lot of things but not able to ...

RS-2116 to RS-2117...can't remember how to migrate...

Hi - JP1 user for MANY years. Enough to have gone through a number of my favorite remotes, RS-2116 and RS-2117 (eventually the keys begin to fail).

For the last several years I've had only RS-2116s. One 2116 failed, so I got an RS-2117 from eBay, works fine. OK, now to transfer the JP1 programming ...

RS 15-2117 won't accept 15-2116 RMIR file

Hi - I know there are a lot of RS 15-2116 and 15-2117 fans around...looking for a bit of help...

I've always used 2116's, currently have one working great with lots of devices.

I recently bought a 2117 off eBay, thought it would just take my 2116 code without issue since it's basically the same ...

Thanks, Vicky. I have enough information to play around with until I hit my next brick wall. You'll undoubtedly hear from me when I hit it, probably sooner than later.

I appreciate the support thus far.

I have vague memories of that upgrade. The Apple TV only had maybe 5 possible button codes and all the values could be expressed in a hex-nibble. So we used the other nibble of the Hex to store the apple id as specified in the XMBC literature. That thread was created before the Apple Protocol was ...

Are things already done on the XMBC side?
Yes, I use a JP1 Apple Remote upgrade that maps both short and long key presses, resulting in some additional virtual buttons, and am able to successfully control my XBMC setup.

I was reading the docs for Remote Buddy (the application that runs in the ...

Anybody use Multi-Apple-Remotes + Remote Buddy + XBMC?

Hi - I use an Apple Remote device upgrade on my RS-2116 which talks to Remote Buddy on a Mac to open and control XMBC. I am happy with the setup, but a few more buttons for XBMC would be nice.

Remote Buddy can support multiple Apple Remotes via pairing to the Mac, to allow more buttons. Has anyone ...

Re: RX-V671

Has anyone uploaded a .RMDU for the RX-V671 utilizing the 4Dev Yamaha Combo protocol?

Here you go: Yamaha RX-V671_NEC_Yam_4DEV_v001.rmdu

This utilizes the extended NEC protocols discussed in this thread. You can add more ...

Since the Yamaha docs are in hexadecimal notation, first convert the function codes to decimal. 85h = 133d, and FAh = 250d.

133 + 250 = 383, which means this is a y1 style signal.

Most Yamaha signals that are associated with the Main zone are either NEC1 or NEC1-y1. Signals for other zones may ...

Re: RX-V671

Has anyone uploaded a .RMDU for the RX-V671 utilizing the 4Dev Yamaha Combo protocol?

I am starting to piece together one. I've spent the last few hours adding the different IR codes, and am looking forward to trying it out once i actually get the RX-671 in the mail.

I never uploaded my .RMDU ...
