Alternate Parts For Serial Interface Cable

I'm building a new serial interface cable using Tommy Tylers instructions (Version 1.0 12/6/03). Two of the part numbers are no longer available from Mouser:

6-pin IDC connector 649-71602-306
Transistor, 2N3904 or any NPN type (Q1) 511-2N3904

I'm sure Mouser has equivalent parts, but I don't ...

Has anyone every found a comercially available IR blaster that works with the 2117? I tried wiring in two more emitters in paralell, and it didnt work. After spending many hours on this, I'm thinking of just buying a whole new extender.

Thank's Rob. Looks like somebody beat me to it. The files section contains upgrade spreadsheets for tivos using address 1 and address 2. Worked great!

Controlling Multiple Tivos

I have two Directv Tivos (DSR7000 and HR10-250) that I'd like to control from my 15-2116. Both tivos have the exact same original remote. The original remotes and the tivos can programmed (through a series of key presses) with unique address that allows them to function independently, and I'd like ...

Yea, the 6131 would baffle my parents. The wee remote that you posted does not have JP1, but the wee remote DV has a learning function so I can program in the basic tivo commands. That looks like the winner. Thanks for all the input!

Thanks for the great suggestions, but I don't think any of these will fit the bill because they can't control a tivo. Edit: whoops I see the wee remote can learn. That's perfect. Thanks!!

Simple Remote For Elderly Parents

Can someone recommend a very simple JP1 remote for my elderly parents? I gave them one of my 15-2116's but it was too confusing for them. Looking for a limited number of buttons, preferably big ones. They only need to control a tv and a tivo.

Simple Interface Troubleshooting - Inconsistent Behavior

I have three 15-2116 remotes, two of which are brand new. I can't get the interface with IR to work correctly for the new remotes, but the old continues to work fine. With IR ver 3.12, I kept getting the error message "always reading "1" from inverted input S7..." With the batteries removed, the ...

Thanks. I do indeed have Tivo, but I can't live without backlit buttons. I think I'll give the URC-8811 a try.

Replacing all my 15-1994's - Need some buying advice

I have three 15-1994's and one RCU810, all tricked out nicely but starting to show their age. I want to replace them all with similar remotes that cost under $100 each. The buttons on the RCU810 wore out way before the other remotes, so I'm looking for new remote that will last awhile. The 15-2116 ...
