the dream system i have is hcd-bc250...thank you to rob and johnsfine as i have now created my own code for my dvd player that was another one that was not in my remote...the sony system is just more complicated but now that i have things down i will go froom there but any help anyone can offer will ...

I actually was able to upload the file you recommended successfully some functions work some don't so i will be reading that guide link that rob gave me for some reason i have found a whole bunch of them but not that one before probably just missed it so i think i am good for now...i will play with ...

yes i have that page bookmarked have absolutely no idea what i am supposed to do with that information i have read the guides but i guess i am just not getting it. is there a specific guide that would help me or am i just not getting it and i am hopeless...LOL

Ok I know my code that i am looking for which is a sony home theatre in box, remote says AV system 3. There is a code for this but just not in my 8811 remote it is in one of the 9xxx series remotes...would i be able to get a original download of one of these remotes and then do an upload using IR ...

I have just received my USB JP1 cable and windows detect thee new hadware but when i tell it where the inf and sys files ar eit returns "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware" I havea dell inspirion 9100 with windows xp professional anyone have any ideas?
